Many targets exceeded the plan

Trang Dinh is a mountainous, border district with 21 communes, 01 town, 166 villages. Of which, there are 11 communes in area III, 11 communes and towns in area I; 14 extremely disadvantaged villages in communes in area I and 44 extremely disadvantaged villages in communes in area III. In the district, there are 6 main ethnic groups living together including Tay, Nung, Dao, Mong, Hoa and Kinh. Over the years, Trang Dinh district has always identified investment resources from ethnic programs and policies as an important solution to create motivation to improve people's lives and reduce poverty.

According to Mr. Quang Khai, Vice Chairman of Trang Dinh District People's Committee, with the efforts of the government, departments and branches, together with the solidarity of the people of all ethnic groups in the area in implementing ethnic work, ethnic policies, programs, projects, and national target programs, it has contributed to promoting the socio-economic development in the district, especially in particularly difficult communes and villages.

In the period of 2019 - 2024, the technical infrastructure system in the district has received more investment attention, through investment sources and forms, focusing on traffic infrastructure, infrastructure in the communes of the disadvantaged areas, and villages of the disadvantaged areas. With a total investment capital in the district of 630.5 billion VND. The district has implemented investment in 197 projects, including 11 school projects, 07 electricity projects, 159 traffic projects, 02 projects for planning, arranging, and stabilizing residents in necessary places (migration projects), 03 irrigation and domestic water projects, 15 other technical infrastructure projects...

In 2019 and 2020, with a support fund of 217.1 million VND, the district disbursed funds to 25 households lacking production land, supported the purchase of agricultural machinery worth 290 million VND for 58 households, supported distributed domestic water worth 826.5 million VND for 551 households, supported poverty reduction replication models for 07 models/173 participating households...

In the years 2022 - 2024, implementing the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas, the whole district has been allocated a total capital of 391,065 million VND. To date, 167,258 million VND has been disbursed. From the projects of the Program, the infrastructure system has been invested synchronously and more spaciously, poor ethnic minority households have been supported to build houses, dispersed water, support for seedlings to develop production, preserve traditional cultural identity...

Thanks to that, in the period of 2019 - 2024, Trang Dinh's socio-economy continues to be stable and has steps of development. Average income per capita reaches about 38.05 million VND/person/year, an increase of 1.45 times compared to 2019, which is 26.2 million VND. The average growth rate of some main economic sectors in the whole period is about 5.5%. The total value of the main economic sectors in the district reaches 3,574,215 billion VND, of which: agriculture, forestry and fishery reaches 1,688,074 billion VND; industry reaches 308.39 billion VND; construction reaches 703,596 billion VND; service sector reaches 874,155 billion VND...

People's lives are improved

With the efforts and determination of the Party committees, authorities and the entire political system, the socio-economic situation in the district has had positive changes. Development support programs and policies such as: Program 135; National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas; National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction; National Target Program for New Rural Development, etc. have gradually improved the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities in the whole district.

In particular, from 2021, implementing the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, period 2021-2025, investment resources and support from projects have been and are solving urgent problems of people's livelihood, contributing to promoting socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

For example, implementing Project 3 - Developing sustainable agricultural and forestry production, promoting the potential and strengths of regions to produce goods according to the value chain, people in the communes have been propagandized by sectors and levels, trained in techniques, and forest care and planting has brought high economic efficiency. Many households have more income, escaped poverty and gradually become rich.

Mr. Hoang Van Dai in Khuoi Cu village, Tan Tien commune shared: Thanks to being trained in cinnamon planting and care techniques through classes organized by the commune People's Committee, his family has applied them to actual production, so the cinnamon garden has developed well. With 4 hectares of land for growing cinnamon, the income from cinnamon trees each year is bringing his family from 80 to 100 million VND.

Along with the investment support of the State; people actively work in production and effectively use the capital sources to support poverty reduction, so the poverty reduction rate of the district has decreased by an average of over 3% per year. In 2019, the whole district had 2,758 poor households, accounting for 17.5%; near-poor households were 1,845 households, accounting for 11.7%; by the end of 2023, the total number of poor households was only 751 households, accounting for 4.34%; near-poor households were 1,418 households, accounting for 8.2%.

Investment in agricultural and rural infrastructure has been increased, and social culture has seen positive changes. Up to now, 100% of communes have concrete roads to the commune center, 100% of primary school-age students go to school, and people enjoy health care services, medical examination and treatment, etc.

Another highlight is that Trang Dinh district has 10 communes recognized as meeting new rural standards, including 01 commune meeting advanced new rural standards; 16 villages in border communes are recognized as meeting new rural standards; 12 residential areas are recognized as meeting model new rural standards. The district has 15 products recognized as OCOP products, including 02 products achieving 4 stars, 13 products achieving 3 stars...
