Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh visits and works in Nakhon Phanom province, Thailand

On the morning of May 19, in Nakhon Phanom province, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh had a meeting with the Governor of Nakhon Phanom province, Mr. Janporn Wanchai, to discuss measures to promote local cooperation between the two countries.

Also attending the meeting were Mr. Chu Duc Dung, Consul General of Vietnam in Khon Ken; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thin, Chairman of the General Association of Thai; representatives of the Association of Vietnamese in the province and leaders of a number of departments, branches and enterprises of the province.

At the meeting, Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh thanked the Governor of Nakhon Phanom province for inviting the Ambassador to attend the 133rd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and visit the province.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the provincial government’s attention and support for the Vietnam-Thailand cooperation relationship in general and the Ho Chi Minh relic site in particular. The Ambassador shared that the Vietnam-Thailand Enhanced Strategic Partnership has developed very well in almost all areas from politics, foreign affairs, economics, trade, tourism, culture, people-to-people exchange, local cooperation, etc.

Nakhon Phanom province has great advantages in promoting cooperation, connecting the East-West economic corridor, connecting the traffic of the three countries Vietnam-Thailand-Laos on roads and railways to promote the fields of investment, trade, tourism... The Ambassador hopes that the cooperation mechanism between the 9 provinces of the three countries Vietnam-Thailand-Laos will bring many economic benefits as well as help strengthen cooperation in all aspects in the coming time.

The Ambassador suggested that the province send a delegation to visit Vietnam to continue promoting and connecting cooperation with Vietnamese localities, including the central provinces in Vietnam; at the same time, continue to support and create favorable conditions for the Thai community of Vietnamese origin living and working in Nakhon Phanom province.

Governor of Nakhon Phanom Province, Mr. Janporn Wanchai expressed his pleasure to welcome the Ambassador and the delegation to visit the province and attend the celebration of the 133rd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday. The President Ho Chi Minh Memorial and the Thai-Vietnamese Friendship Village are historical and cultural relics of great significance to the Thailand-Vietnam friendship. Every year, on May 19, overseas Vietnamese people eagerly prepare to celebrate Uncle Ho's birthday.

Therefore, he believes that the 133rd anniversary of Uncle Ho's birthday is also a good opportunity to strengthen the friendship between the Thai and Vietnamese people.

Regarding the Vietnam-Thailand cooperation relationship, the Governor wishes to promote multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnamese localities such as through road and railway connections between the three countries of Vietnam-Thailand-Laos and based on the available advantages of the province, affirming that he will soon organize a provincial delegation to visit and work with Vietnamese localities as soon as possible.

Governor Janporn Wanchai highly appreciated the contribution of the Vietnamese community to the economic and social development of the province, especially overseas Vietnamese businesses. The province always values ​​and will always support the Thai community of Vietnamese origin living and working in the province as well as pay attention to and support the maintenance of the President Ho Chi Minh relic site.

On the same afternoon, the Ambassador and his delegation visited and worked at the International Aviation School, part of Nakhon Phanom University. This is the only facility training pilots and flight attendants in the Northeast region of Thailand.

Nakhom Phanom University has cooperated with universities in Central Vietnam for more than 20 years, signed memorandums of understanding and cooperation with Danang University, Hue University, Can Tho University, and Quang Tri Pedagogical College.

In the past, the School has received and trained Vietnamese students from the Central provinces of Vietnam, trained Thai language for a total of about 500 students; trained bachelor's degree for 50 students. Every year, about 300 Thai students at the School choose Vietnamese as a foreign language subject.

To further promote cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, the Ambassador suggested that the University continue to promote the teaching and learning of Thai language for Vietnamese students studying and researching at the University; and teaching Vietnamese language for Thai students; further connecting with partners in Vietnam, and establishing twinning relationships with universities that share the same vision, values, and strengths.

Mr. Somyot Seesansui, Acting Rector of Nakhon Phanom University, expressed his joy and honor to welcome the Ambassador and the delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand. He believes that in the future, educational cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand in general and between Nakhon Phanom University and Vietnamese educational institutions in particular will be further promoted.

The Acting Rector hopes that the Embassy will support Nakhon Phanom University in connecting with Vietnamese universities in the coming time and is ready to come to Vietnam to promote cooperation and student exchange.
