(Dan Tri) - "In Vietnam, there are few high schools that teach Italian. I hope that in the future, we will promote more high schools to teach this language," said Italian Ambassador Marco della Seta.

Answering Dan Tri reporters within the framework of the "23rd Italian Language Week", organized by Hanoi University on October 16, Mr. Marco della Seta, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Vietnam, informed about the educational cooperation roadmap between Italy and Vietnam in the coming time.

"In Vietnam, there are few high schools that teach Italian. I hope that in the future, we will promote more high schools to teach this language," said Ambassador Marco della Seta.

According to the Ambassador, the Italian Government and Ministry of Foreign Affairs have actively supported Vietnam in the past and pledged to continue to support it in the future.

The support packages will involve scholarships for students, teaching materials, learning materials at the faculty and specialized courses for lecturers teaching Italian in Vietnam.

At the same time, through the Embassy, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will send lecturers to teach at the faculty as well as Italian language teaching units in Vietnam...

According to the ambassador, Vietnam and Italy have signed an educational cooperation agreement for the 2019-2022 period. In recent times, the two countries have implemented training programs at the university level according to international standards.

For example, some Italian universities implement training programs in Vietnam and Vietnamese students go to Italy to study on exchange; promoting the spread of language and culture at the high school level in Italy and Vietnam.

Hanoi University currently has 500 students studying Italian and 50 Italian students studying in Vietnam, so the ambassador assessed that the two countries still have a lot of room for cooperation in this field.

Previously, in June 2019, the Vietnamese Government and the Italian Government signed an action program on educational cooperation for the 2019-2022 period.

Accordingly, Italy will consider providing textbooks, as well as audio-visual aids and other educational materials to Vietnamese general education institutions for teaching Italian and training and retraining teachers and teaching assistants.

The two sides will also consider promoting the pilot teaching of Italian in a Vietnamese high school selected by both sides.

At the opening ceremony of the "Italian Language Week", Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Trao, President of Hanoi University, emphasized that this event is of special importance because in 2023, Vietnam and the Republic of Italy celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of establishing a strategic partnership.

In the coming years, along with the transformation of the country's economy, the school and the Italian language department will continue to train in the direction of professional application, approaching international standards, meeting the needs of high-quality human resources of the country and the region.

"I hope that in the future, the Italian Department will continue to receive support from the Embassy and agencies of the Italian government in Hanoi in professional activities, especially in carrying out the mission of disseminating and developing the teaching and learning of the Italian language, the language known as the language of love, in Vietnam," said Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Trao.
