1. Knowing that we intended to stay in the alluvial area at the foot of A Sap bridge (Hong Thuong commune, Ha Luoi, Thua Thien-Hue) with personal tents, Ho Van Lip was still very enthusiastic. "You guys can camp and have fun... We have traditional dishes, you can order them when you need. When you leave, just send me some money for environmental sanitation fee", the 25-year-old Pa Koh smiled brightly.
Beautiful pictures at the farmstay of Riáh Dung, Secretary of the Gari Commune Youth Union
Lip is located in the basin of the hydroelectric lake, after the rainy season, the A Sap alluvial land is covered with a layer of green grass. A few years ago, the Hong Thuong Commune Union sought to exploit it to welcome tourists to come and see the scenery. So, a few wooden stilt houses were built, and the local girls prepared food and drinks to serve diners. A quiet stretch of the A Sap River, long used only for cows to graze, was "awakened" by the union members by doing tourism that is close to and respects nature.
When I met a group of tourists from Da Nang City, I asked: "This place is not very famous, why did you come here?". A member of the group replied: "Seeing pictures on social networks, seeing the wildness and freshness of the forest, the river..., we decided to travel more than 170 km to A Sap to experience. "Healing" by immersing ourselves in nature, interacting with simple people... is the best way".
The amazing landscape of A Nor waterfall (HA Luoi) fascinates tourists
Since the recent April 30 and May 1 holidays, the eco-tourism destinations of the A Luoi mountain range with majestic mountains, rivers, streams, and green grass fields somewhere in the Truong Son range have appeared more frequently on social networks. The charming A Nor waterfalls, the cool and clear A Lin stream, the challenging Par Le rapids, and Can Te stream not only fascinate tourists because of their beauty, but they are also like a "medicine" to cool down in the peak heat.
2. Also after the recent holiday, Riáh Dung, Secretary of the Gari Commune Youth Union (Tay Giang District, Quang Nam) posted a series of photos introducing his farmstay. Looking at the green photos of the farmstay nestled in the middle of the Truong Son old forest taken by Dung at dawn or dusk, a feeling of peace and relaxation spread. Dung invited me to experience the mountain and forest landscape and sleep in the tent he set up. "Coming to Tay Giang in general and my farmstay in particular will be very interesting! During the day, you can go swimming in the stream, go into the forest to see the ancient banyan forest, in the afternoon, set up a table to admire the scenery, sip some tr'din wine, eat wild vegetables and local specialties...", Dung invited.
Tay Giang is not as favorable for population development as A Luoi valley due to its complex terrain. However, thanks to this factor, the local landscape is very beautiful and majestic. As a place where the Co Tu people have lived for generations with the tradition of worshiping "forest goddess" and the strong slogan "as long as the forest exists, Tay Giang exists", perhaps there are few places that still preserve as many primeval forests as here. It is possible to mention the rhododendron forest, lim forest, and po mu forest that have been recognized as heritage forests hundreds of years old, at an altitude of more than 2,000 m above sea level.
Young people increasingly like to experience spaces close to nature.
"For us, the Co Tu people, forests are treasures. The forest is like a proud, silent father who creates a majestic gươl (village house) roof. The forest is also like a gentle mother who protects and nourishes the villagers. The forest produces all the cultural values of ethnic minorities...", said Mr. Polong Plenh, an expert from the Department of Culture and Information of Tay Giang District. Over the years, whenever there are groups of tourists who want to visit and experience the forests, Mr. Plenh has become a tour guide with rare enthusiasm. With a special love for the forest and hospitality, not only Mr. Plenh but also the Co Tu people I met are always willing to welcome visitors to the forest, with their pride.
3. Referring to the construction of A Luoi into a developed locality, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Luoi, once had a very good slogan: "A place worth coming, worth staying and worth bringing back". The slogan became practical when the district is focusing on investing in infrastructure, especially in developing eco-tourism, green agriculture... The Ha Luoi government has supported people to implement models of growing tulips, raising sturgeon, homestay tourism, clean vegetables, the collective brand of A Luoi Golden Cow... The traditional cultural village of ethnic groups in A Luoi district at the sim conservation area is also about to be completed, also promising to be a new check-in location of A Luoi.
As the district with the largest natural area in Thua Thien-Hue province, with a cool climate all year round, beautiful landscapes and unique indigenous culture associated with the Pa Koh, Co Tu, Ta Oi, Pa Hy ethnic groups, A Luoi is gradually affirming itself as a place "worth coming and worth staying". In order to "have something worth bringing back", the district has developed OCOP products such as yellow cows and dwarf bananas with the number of herds and growing area increasing day by day. Anyone who has ever tasted these two products will not be surprised by the message: "When you go to A Luoi, remember to buy bananas and beef...".
HA Luoi also invested in building a highland market for locals to sell traditional food and to display and sell products such as zèng (brocade), hill chicken, stream fish, snails, wild honey, charcoal sticky rice, surplus rice, etc. "The district directs tourist attractions to post prices, not solicit or challenge prices, aiming for clean and green tourism. In addition, there are many plans to support the development of homestay tourism in community cultural tourism villages and some households," said Mr. Hung.
Back to Riáh Dung's farmstay. He and local youth are currently developing a forest of native Tay Giang oranges and green-skinned grapefruits with thousands of trees, on an area of more than 10 hectares. Riáh Dung's model of "Ecotourism connecting native Tay Giang oranges" (recognized as a provincial-level creative startup idea since 2019) is currently effective. Dung's farmstay also "has something worth bringing back", which is oranges. "Beautiful nature and green life are inherent assets that tourists going to the mountains can experience. But in order for tourists to "have something worth bringing back", which are beautiful memories, knowledge about ethnic culture, and bringing back highland specialties..., the model owner must equip himself with tourism skills and build products worth buying", Dung shared.
