Speaking at the program, Associate Professor Dr. Ta Hai Tung, principal of the School of Information and Communication Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said that when ChatGPT was born, it showed the explosion of artificial intelligence. Accordingly, last year the school opened a laboratory specializing in this field. Through the process of implementing research activities, the school saw a huge demand for human resources in this field. "From the beginning of 2024, we are determined to pioneer in GenAI training. After three months of continuous work, with the help of experts, we have successfully built a specialized specialized engineering program on artificial intelligence," said Mr. Tung. According to Mr. Tung, the specialized specialized engineering program has a standard training period of 1.5 years, students are required to have graduated with a bachelor's degree in fields related to information technology or related fields. "With the specialized training program for engineers specializing in artificial intelligence, we not only want to train human resources from Hanoi University of Science and Technology graduates but also bachelors from other training institutions across the country who have the need and desire to pursue a promising career in the future," said Mr. Tung.

At the launch, Dr. Dinh Viet Sang - Deputy Director of BKAI Center, Coordinator of GenAI Training Program - said that according to statistics, investment in GenAI in the world in 2023 is 25 billion USD, 5 times higher than in 2022. In the first quarter of 2024, investment in GenAI is about 7.5 billion USD, expected to be about 45 billion USD by the end of the year. "Faced with the explosion of GenAI, leading technology companies and banks in Vietnam are investing fundamentally in human factors, infrastructure, and technology related to GenAI," said Mr. Sang. Regarding human resource needs and training situation, according to CNBC's report, the number of GenAI job searches on Indeed increased by nearly 4,000% last year and the number of GenAI job opportunities increased by 306% compared to the same period in September 2022. Jobs requiring GenAI skills have salaries 47% higher. According to a Deloitte survey in January 2024, 45% of CEOs said they are actively improving and training their workforce in AI; 44% are recruiting for AI-related jobs. According to a survey by TopDev, Vietnam is short of 200,000 out of a total of 700,000 IT workers needed by 2025. "Currently, there are more than 1,000 universities in the world training programs related to data science and artificial intelligence. Of which, only two training units directly related to GenAI are The Hong Kong Polytechnic University training a master's program related to GenAI and Golden Gate University training a doctoral degree in GenAI in business administration. Currently, the GenAI training program is quite new in the world, in Vietnam there is no unit training the GenAI program," said Mr. Sang. Mr. Tran Hung, founder of GotIt - a technology start-up in Silicon Valley, USA, believes that GenAI is still very new to the world, and there are not many applications on the market. Therefore, if engineers can grasp it and build applications that serve social and business needs, it will be a breakthrough.
"I am happy that Hanoi University of Science and Technology quickly launched this program. This is one of the few regular programs in the world, not just in Vietnam," said Mr. Hung.
