“Digital Nomad” is a term used to describe people who do not work in one fixed location. They often move around, travel freely while working remotely using technology and the internet.

According to a report by MBO Partners, the number of digital nomads has grown impressively, from around 7.3 million in 2019 to 18 million in 2024. Notably, Travel Off Path - one of the leading travel information platforms for this community - has attracted more than 6 million readers per month. These numbers not only demonstrate the explosion of a new lifestyle but also reflect the growing interest in a free and flexible lifestyle in the digital transformation era.

American travel site Travel Off Path believes that if you are a “digital nomad” who loves exploring local culture and year-round sunny weather, but dislikes the increasing crowds in Southern Europe, the not-so-impressive safety level in Latin America, or the sky-high prices in the Caribbean, then Asia is the ideal choice for you.

“Not only does Asia boast vibrant cities that “never sleep” and unparalleled natural beauty, it is also considered the most economical continent to travel for remote workers, thanks to its low cost of living and affordable consumer prices,” Travel Off Path said, explaining why Asia is attractive to digital nomads.

Da Nang, the city known as the "tourism capital of Central Vietnam", is increasingly asserting its position with a harmonious combination of culture, history and nature. The cost of living for a digital nomad in Da Nang is very reasonable, with an average rent of about 355.33 USD (more than 9 million VND). A bowl of pho costs an average of 1.58 USD (about 40,000 VND) and 24.62 USD (nearly 700,000 VND) for a 3-course menu at a luxury restaurant.

From Da Nang, the American travel site suggests that visitors go to Ba Na peak - a prominent destination of the city. "Ba Na Hills is where visitors can explore the majestic natural beauty," Travel Off Path commented. Here, digital nomads can visit the Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area with world-famous tourist attractions such as the Golden Bridge, experience attractive shows, visit the French Village or the brewery at the highest location in Vietnam... The Sun KraftBeer craft beer, brewed right on top of Ba Na with the original recipe from Bavaria, Germany, is a highlight not to be missed. Each glass of Sun KraftBeer brings a rich, smooth flavor, the perfect experience for those who love a free and exploratory lifestyle.

In addition to entertainment experiences, Ba Na peak is also home to Linh Ung Pagoda - an ancient pagoda with a peaceful and sacred space, an ideal destination for meditation and finding balance in life. Not only possessing cultural and spiritual values, Linh Ung Ba Na Pagoda also leaves an impression with ancient Vietnamese architecture, majestic natural scenery and the largest Shakyamuni Buddha statue in Da Nang.

In addition, Da Nang also has many experiences that digital nomads love, such as the most beautiful beaches on the planet such as My Khe or exploring the pristine nature at Son Tra peninsula. Besides that, there are interesting adventurous experiences, such as paragliding or jetskiing...

Attracting a digital nomad community not only brings direct economic revenue from tourism, accommodation, and daily spending, but also contributes to promoting sustainable development for the locality. Digital nomads invest in earning and spending money in the locality where they stay, thereby contributing to the local economy without taking away the jobs of local people. Not only helping to promote tourism and consumption of goods, digital nomads also contribute to creating technology convergence centers around the world. In addition, the presence of digital nomads is also an opportunity to promote the image of the destination through the network of connections and shared content on digital platforms. This contributes to enhancing the position of the locality on the international tourism map.

In addition to Da Nang, in this list, Travel Off Path also named another famous destination in Vietnam, Hoi An, along with famous tourist destinations such as Chiang Mai (Thailand), Makassar (Indonesia), Phnom Penh (Cambodia)...
