At around 3 p.m., a male driver was driving a tractor trailer carrying steel coils on Nguyen Van Linh Street, heading from Phu My Bridge to Binh Chanh District. When reaching the intersection of Nguyen Van Linh - Pham Van Nghi, Tan Phong Ward, the truck braked suddenly, causing the chain securing the cargo on the trailer to break. The steel coils rolled forward and crushed the cabin. The driver opened the cabin door and escaped without injury.

The damaged cabin of the tractor-trailer and the trailer blocked the intersection, causing traffic congestion. The South Saigon Traffic Police team arrived at the scene and lifted the steel coil to remove it. Upon inspection, the driver had no alcohol concentration and tested negative for drugs. He said that he had to brake suddenly to avoid a collision with another vehicle, causing the chain to break.

In May, a steel coil also crushed a cabin and then fell onto the sidewalk in Di An City, Binh Duong. Accidents caused by trucks carrying steel coils are common in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Dong Nai, causing danger, but to date there have been no regulations on securing the goods and handling violations to ensure safety.
