National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received the delegation of Lao and Cambodian Women's Unions

On the morning of July 4, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received a delegation of the Lao and Cambodian Women's Union and businesswomen on the occasion of the delegation's participation in the Forum connecting and exchanging businesswomen of the three countries with the theme "Women Entrepreneurs and Green Economy".

Speaking at the reception, the National Assembly Chairman emphasized that the delegation's visit and work this time will continue to contribute to promoting and strengthening the traditional friendship, especially between the three Parties, States, people and women of the three countries. Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia has been diligently cultivated by generations of senior leaders and people of the three countries. The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always attach importance to, preserve and promote the traditional friendship with the Party, State and people of Laos and Cambodia. Vietnam wishes to continuously consolidate and nurture the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos and the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability between Vietnam and Cambodia, for the benefit of the people of each country, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Appreciating the role of the Women's Unions of Laos and Cambodia in leading the Lao and Cambodian women's movement, protecting and promoting women's rights through research and advising the Party and State on policies on women's development, participating in training and capacity building on gender equality, the National Assembly Chairman was pleased to see that the traditional friendship between the three countries and the Women's Unions of the three countries is growing. The Women's Unions of the three countries have had many specific exchange activities contributing to strengthening relations and promoting the development of women in each country, especially the signing and implementation of the Cooperation Agreement for the period 2022-2027 with practical contents, meeting the aspirations of women and the Women's Unions of the three countries.

The Women's Unions of the three countries actively coordinate with localities, especially border localities, in cross-border cooperation activities, contributing to maintaining a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developing border.

The National Assembly Chairwoman welcomed the Women's Unions of the three countries for proactively proposing to organize and participate in common activities and initiatives such as organizing forums to exchange and share experiences in the movements of the Women's Unions, exchanging delegations at high and all levels, such as: Friendship Bus in September 2017, Women's Forum of the three countries Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia in September 2022 and the Forum connecting and exchanging female entrepreneurs of the three countries this time is a proof.

The National Assembly Chairman stated that the Party and State of Vietnam always pay attention to gender equality and women's development. The State and Government have issued many policies, strategies, projects and related laws on gender equality and women's development. The 15th National Assembly has 151 female deputies, accounting for 30.26%. All female deputies have a university degree or higher, of which 79.5% have a post-graduate degree; 30 deputies are under 40 years old (accounting for 19.86%).

Recently, Vietnam has had more senior female leaders, including one female Politburo member, one female Vice President, and one female Vice President of the National Assembly. Notably, on April 9, 2024, the United Nations Economic and Social Council unanimously elected Vietnam to the Executive Board of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women for the 2025-2027 term.

This demonstrates the international community's recognition and appreciation of Vietnam's policies and achievements in promoting gender equality in this field.

The National Assembly Chairwoman welcomed the initiative of the Vietnam Women's Union in coordination with the Lao and Cambodian Women's Unions to organize a forum to connect and exchange female entrepreneurs from the three countries to share experiences in business development and make proposals to promote the role and connect female entrepreneurs between the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Associations in green economic development.

The National Assembly Chairman believes that during the visit and working visit of the delegation of the Lao and Cambodian Women's Union and businesswomen to Vietnam, the Women's Unions of the three countries will continue to exchange profound experiences and good models, and at the same time connect businesswomen of the three countries so that women in general and businesswomen in particular will continue to make important contributions to the construction and development of each country and the region.

The National Assembly Chairwoman suggested that in the coming time, based on the situation of each country, the Women's Unions of the three countries will continue to discuss directions and cooperation measures to further improve the work for women's development and gender equality, connect businesswomen of the three countries, strengthen the friendly and traditional relationship between the three Women's Union organizations, contributing to the solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the Party, State and people of the three countries of Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia. President of the Lao Women's Union Ali Vungnobountham and Vice President of the Cambodian Women's Union for Peace and Development Chau Bun Eng expressed their gratitude to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for taking the time to receive the delegation; and thanked the Vietnam Women's Union for creating conditions for the Lao and Cambodian Women's Unions to attend the important event of the Forum for connecting and exchanging businesswomen of the three countries.

Leaders of the Lao and Cambodian Women's Unions also informed about the activities of the Women's Unions of each country in recent times; at the same time, they affirmed that they will continue to promote good traditions, strengthen and tighten relations with the Vietnam Women's Union to improve the professional qualifications and operational efficiency of the Unions.
