The Chilean President believes that President Luong Cuong's visit will create a strong driving force, further deepening the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Chile.

According to the special correspondent of Vietnam News Agency, at the invitation of President of the Republic of Chile Gabriel Boric Font, President Luong Cuong will pay an official visit to Chile from December 10.
On the morning of November 11, at the Presidential Palace, after the solemn official welcoming ceremony, President Luong Cuong had a private meeting and held official talks with President of the Republic of Chile Gabriel Boric Font.
During the talks, President Luong Cuong and President Gabriel Boric Font informed each other about the situation in each country, jointly assessed the development of bilateral relations, discussed directions and measures to continue to deepen the Vietnam-Chile Comprehensive Partnership, making it more effective and substantive, aiming to elevate the relationship in the coming time, as well as discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern.
On behalf of the State and people of Chile, President Gabriel Boric Font warmly welcomed the President and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to their official visit to Chile, affirming that the visit is of special significance, the first visit to Chile at the level of a Vietnamese Head of State in the past 15 years; believing that the visit will create a strong driving force, further deepening the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
The Chilean President expressed his admiration and respect for President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic struggle for national independence and unification of the Vietnamese people in the past, as well as for Vietnam's achievements in building and developing the country today, especially in the renovation process, considering this a valuable experience that Chile can refer to, serving the country's socio-economic development.
The President affirmed that Chile always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen relations with Vietnam in its overall policy towards the Asia-Pacific region, especially in the context of Vietnam and Chile celebrating the 10th anniversary of the implementation of the bilateral free trade agreement and the two countries being members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
President Luong Cuong sincerely thanked President Gabriel Boric Font, the State and people of Chile for the warm welcome given to the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation; affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Chile, the first country in South America to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam (March 25, 1971); and thanked the Chilean people for their valuable support for the Vietnamese people in the just struggle for national independence and reunification in the past and in the cause of protecting and building the Fatherland today.
The President shared that this visit aims to affirm the message that Vietnam attaches importance to and wishes to further promote the Comprehensive Partnership with Chile and has special significance as it takes place on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the historic meeting between President Ho Chi Minh and the late President Salvador Allende on May 23, 1969 in Hanoi. The meeting laid the foundation for the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1971, as well as for the development of the Vietnam-Chile relationship today.
The two leaders expressed their delight at the growing bilateral relations through maintaining the exchange of high-level visits and contacts through all channels of the Party, State, National Assembly and localities; effectively implementing existing cooperation mechanisms such as the Free Trade Council and the Deputy Foreign Minister-level Political Consultation.
The two sides acknowledged that economic and trade relations continue to be strengthened in the context of global economic challenges; Chile is Vietnam's fourth largest trading partner in Latin America and Vietnam is Chile's largest trading partner in ASEAN.
The two leaders appreciated Vietnam's official establishment of the Defense Attaché Office in Chile, thereby contributing to further promoting defense cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.
The two sides highly appreciated the close and effective cooperation between the two countries at international organizations and inter-regional forums, especially at the United Nations, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC), the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC), ASEAN-Pacific Alliance, etc.

The two sides agreed to continue to focus on promoting cooperation in areas of mutual strength and interest such as free trade, agriculture, sustainable development, renewable energy, science, education, tourism, defense, security, etc.; actively negotiate and sign bilateral cooperation documents to perfect the legal framework for sustainable development of bilateral relations; create favorable conditions for the business communities of the two countries to increase exchanges and business cooperation to increase bilateral trade turnover commensurate with the potential of the two countries. The two leaders agreed to strengthen coordination, cooperation and mutual support at international organizations, multilateral and inter-regional forums.
Sharing the development vision of the two countries, supporting the values of free trade, cooperation for mutual development, mutual benefit and on the basis of potential and room for cooperation, the two leaders agreed to assign the ministries and branches of the two countries to exchange, review, update and consider upgrading the framework of relations in the coming time to create more space for bilateral cooperation, while identifying breakthrough and strategic cooperation priorities.
The two leaders also had in-depth discussions and shared their stances on many regional and international issues of mutual concern. Regarding the East Sea issue, the two sides agreed that disputes over sovereignty and territory should be resolved by peaceful means, on the basis of respect for international law, especially the United Nations Charter and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).
On this occasion, President Luong Cuong respectfully conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to President Gabriel Boric Font and invited the President to visit Vietnam soon. The Chilean President thanked him and happily accepted the invitation.
After the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of the Vietnam-Chile Joint Statement between the two Foreign Ministers, the Memorandum of Understanding on defense cooperation between the two countries' Defense Ministries and cooperation documents in the fields of agriculture, culture, trade promotion...; and held a joint meeting with the press of the two countries and international press./.
