(Dan Tri) - Many areas of Yen Bai city are flooded up to the head, traffic is paralyzed. Authorities and local people are rushing to evacuate the elderly and children from deep flooded areas.

The entire city of Yen Bai is facing serious flooding due to prolonged heavy rain.

According to local people, prolonged heavy rain in the area caused the water level of the Red River and rivers and streams in Yen Bai city to rise, exceeding the alarm level.

The water level started rising on the afternoon of September 9, temporarily cutting off and isolating many areas. People's lives were severely affected.

Many main roads in the city such as Dien Bien, Le Loi… were deeply flooded, in some places above people’s heads, traffic was paralyzed. Many people had to use boats and inflatable rafts to move around.

Faced with severe flooding, local authorities quickly deployed emergency response measures. Many volunteer groups from neighboring provinces brought boats, food, drinking water, etc. to Yen Bai city to support local residents.

Instant noodles, fast food, clean water... from everywhere are coming to Yen Bai city to support people in flooded areas.

By early afternoon of September 10, many areas in Yen Bai city were still deeply flooded, the main means of transportation for people were still small boats and inflatable rafts.

Some areas that rescue forces cannot reach due to strong currents and high risk of landslides near the edge of hills.

Many cars were submerged by floodwaters on the streets of Yen Bai.

According to rescue team members, food and supplies are still being sent to Yen Bai city. However, the most difficult task is to get people out of the flooded areas.

As of 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, Yen Bai City and many localities in Yen Bai Province are still submerged in water, many wards and communes are isolated and cannot be contacted, and traffic is cut off.
