To date, there has been no specific analysis of the effectiveness of expressway projects on regional and local development. However, we can affirm that each completed and operational expressway is "turning time into money".
Cam Lam – Vinh Hao Expressway connects the expressway from Ho Chi Minh City to Khanh Hoa.
Why do we say that? For example, if previously, the journey from Hanoi to Nghe An took about 5 - 5.5 hours by car, now with the expressway, the time is reduced to only 2.5 - 3 hours. The road is more beautiful, the speed is faster, the cost of fuel and wear is lower. The shortened travel time will create momentum for economic development. The opportunity to attract investment will also be shared equally among the localities along the expressway.
Second, the invested expressway system is following the three core "pillars" of sustainable development: Economy - Social Equity - Environment.
In terms of economics, it is very clear as analyzed above. In terms of social justice, any citizen can use the highway to move conveniently to the centers. With environmental factors, new highways are designed to ensure optimization, as straight as possible and in harmony with nature with the motto "through mountains, carving mountains", minimizing the impact on nature, meeting both efficiency, aesthetics and environmental friendliness.
Since the highways were put into operation, they have promoted the socio-economic development of the localities where the highways pass through in particular and the whole country in general, and at the same time have been one of the "levers" to attract investment.
Quang Ninh can be taken as an example. Thanks to strong infrastructure development, traffic connections from road to sea, Quang Ninh has been very successful in economic development, becoming an attractive destination for investment, trade, tourism...
Up to now, the expressways have clearly shown their role in connecting, shortening travel time, closely linking economic zones, growth poles in the North and international airports including: Noi Bai (Hanoi) - Cat Bi (Hai Phong) - Van Don (Quang Ninh).
It is clear to see the great benefits that highways bring when they significantly shorten distances and times, helping vehicles travel faster and more safely.
In particular, when the expressway system is connected, it also reduces investment costs for other infrastructure; helping to reduce 85-95% of incidents and traffic accidents on national and provincial highways located near the expressway. With so many benefits, our efforts to connect the North-South expressway in the near future are very meaningful.
