(Dan Tri) - After 40 months of non-stop construction, engineers and workers are rushing to complete the stages to close My Thuan 2 Bridge in the next few days.
Urgent construction day and night to prepare for closing
The My Thuan 2 Bridge construction project across the Tien River connecting Tien Giang and Vinh Long provinces is one of the country's key projects. Currently, the project is in the final stage before putting into operation to synchronously connect the Trung Luong - My Thuan and My Thuan - Can Tho expressways. According to the report of Project Management Board 7 - the investor's representative unit, the project has completed more than 92% of the volume, of which the bridge approach road has reached 100% completion.

For the main package (XL.03B), the units are implementing the construction of the last beam segment to close the main span. Previously, the beam blocks, the edge spans and the cable-stayed cable tensioning work have been completed. As for the lighting, fire prevention, and riverbank reinforcement items, the construction unit is continuing to focus on implementing to complete all items in December and put into operation at the end of 2023 according to the original plan. Before closing, the work of ensuring labor safety has been strictly inspected and implemented in accordance with regulations.

The largest cable-stayed bridge designed and constructed by 100% Vietnamese people
It is known that after Rach Mieu Bridge, My Thuan 2 Bridge is the second cable-stayed bridge in the Mekong Delta region designed and constructed by Vietnamese people.
"My Thuan 2 Bridge is one of the first key projects in the Southwest region that we have ever implemented. Despite the differences in geology and construction practices, we have completed the project very well and received high appreciation from the investor," said Mr. Bui Manh Hung, Director of Trung Nam Construction and Installation Joint Stock Company (Trung Nam E&C).
My Thuan 2 Bridge Project is constructed by a consortium of Trung Chinh Trading and Construction Company; Trung Nam Company; VNCN E&C Construction and Engineering Investment Joint Stock Company.
In this consortium, contractor Trung Nam E&C undertakes the construction of the main items of My Thuan 2 bridge with large volume, complexity and high technical factors.
According to the representative of contractor Trung Nam E&C, the My Thuan 2 bridge project, from design to construction, was completely undertaken by Vietnamese people, which has helped reduce construction costs significantly compared to the previous period of dependence on foreign contractors.
Sharing the pride of being one of the construction units of My Thuan 2 Bridge, Mr. Nguyen Truong Thinh (technical officer of Trung Chinh contractor) said: "From design to construction, the bridge is completely undertaken by Vietnamese people. This is the pride of Vietnamese people in general and of the construction unit in particular."

Looking forward to the day the bridge opens to traffic
Mr. Le Tri Thien (36 years old, in Ca Mau) said that due to the nature of his work, he often travels from Ca Mau to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa, each trip takes about 7-8 hours if there is no traffic jam. When My Thuan 2 Bridge is built, the travel time from Ca Mau to Ho Chi Minh City will be shortened compared to usual.
"If there is a bridge to the highway, it will be more open and the roads will be easier to drive on," said Mr. Thien.

According to Mr. Thien, the early completion of My Thuan 2 Bridge, in addition to "sharing the burden" with My Thuan Bridge, will also have a positive impact on the trade of local people at a time when travel demand increases on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024.
Although Ms. Vo Thi Kim Chi's restaurant is located more than ten kilometers from My Thuan Bridge, Ms. Chi is also excited about the locality because the traffic infrastructure has been upgraded, creating motivation for people to focus on trading and developing the economy.

"Traveling and shopping will also be easier in the future if transportation is convenient. I have been selling to tourists for many years now, I realize that if roads are easy to travel, that place will develop and people will benefit," Ms. Chi said.
