(CTO) - On the occasion of the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023), on May 15, at Cai Khe 3 Primary School, Cai Khe Ward Youth Union (Ninh Kieu District) organized the 4th "Children Protect the Environment" Festival in 2023, with the theme "Cai Khe Youth learns and follows Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style".
According to Mr. Lai Phuoc Truong Thanh, Secretary of the Cai Khe Ward Youth Union, the festival took place from May 15 to 17 at 3 primary schools: Cai Khe 1, Cai Khe 2 and Cai Khe 3 (from May 15 to 17), attracting more than 1,000 children to participate. The Organizing Committee mobilized 6,000 gifts to implement the "Exchange trash for gifts" activity and ILA English Center donated 150 scholarships of free English courses for students in difficult circumstances.
Participate in the activity “Exchange trash for gifts”; for each kilogram of waste materials (plastic bottles, scrap paper, etc.), students will receive 1 voucher to exchange for gifts such as: leather bags, school supplies, ornamental plants, cakes).
This is the 4th time that Cai Khe Ward Youth Union has organized the “Children Protect the Environment” Festival. Thereby, it contributes to educating green lifestyle, raising awareness of environmental protection, and building a green - clean - beautiful school landscape.
Cai Khe 3 Primary School is the first school to hold the Festival. In the photo: Students prepare waste materials that have been collected for over a week to participate in the "trading trash for gifts" activity.
For each kilogram of waste material, children can exchange for 1 gift voucher.
For each gift voucher, children can exchange for 1 gift such as: bonsai, school bag, school supplies and cakes.
Nguyen Hoang Gia Bao (left) and Mai Xuan Loc (right), students of class 1A, eagerly participated in the festival with "trash bags" collected many days ago. Gia Bao shared: "My sisters and I asked for plastic bottles and old newspapers from grandparents, parents and neighbors, hoping to exchange them for many gifts. I plan to exchange them for cactus plants to grow at home and cakes."
In addition to the "trash for gifts" activity, the Organizing Committee also gave necessities to disadvantaged students at Cai Khe 3 Primary School.
Representatives of ILA English Center presented 150 scholarships to support disadvantaged students at 3 primary schools: Cai Khe 1, Cai Khe 2 and Cai Khe 3.
