On May 25, US President Joe Biden nominated General Charles Brown (pictured) as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, replacing Army General Mark Milley.
If approved by the Senate, Mr. Brown will be the second black person to hold the position of Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, after Mr. Colin Powell was appointed to this position.

Mr. Charles Brown, 61, was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, and was an F16 fighter pilot and held many command positions in the Pacific theater. Mr. Brown was also in charge of strategic deterrence operations and nuclear integration of the US Air Force in the European theater.
In 2020, General Charles Brown was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.
