(CT) - After a period of low prices, the price of live goats in many localities in the Mekong Delta has now increased again by about 5,000 VND/kg compared to about a month ago. The price of type 1 live goats (meat goats, about 38-43kg/head) is sold by farmers to traders at 75,000 VND/kg, while previously the price was only 70,000 VND/kg. Type 2 live goats have increased from 65,000 VND/kg to 70,000 VND/kg. The price has increased due to a decrease in supply in many localities because the number of live goats ready for sale is not as high as before, as well as because people have reduced their raising. Many households raising fattened goats with industrial feed are still losing capital due to high raising costs, especially when they previously had to buy high-priced breeding goats. However, many households can still make a profit by producing their own breeding goats and raising goats with leaves and grasses found in nature.
Many households are reducing the use of industrial feed and increasing the use of leaves and grass as feed for goats to reduce raising costs.
► The price of lemons and kumquats in many localities in the Mekong Delta has decreased by 3,000-8,000 VND/kg compared to more than 2 weeks ago. Currently, the price of seedless lemons (white-flowered lemons) and kumquats sold by farmers to traders and warehouses is at 8,000-9,000 VND/kg. Seedless lemons with purple flowers are at 16,000-18,000 VND/kg. The price has decreased due to increased supply because many lemon and kumquat gardens are in full harvest, as well as because the demand for lemons and kumquats in many localities is somewhat slower than before. According to farmers, from the beginning of 2023 until now, lemon and kumquat growers have had a fairly good income thanks to prices remaining at a high level. Currently, although prices have decreased, growers still make a profit because lemons and kumquats have high yields and require little care.

► Compared to about 2 weeks ago, the current price of many types of nitrogen fertilizer (Urea) in the Mekong Delta has increased by 50,000-60,000 VND/50kg bag and is at a fairly high level. The price of Ca Mau Fertilizer, Phu My Fertilizer, Ha Bac Fertilizer and many types of Urea imported from China, Indonesia, Malaysia are at 490,000-550,000 VND/bag, while previously it was only 430,000-450,000 VND/bag. The increase in Urea price is due to the influence of rising world prices. Thus, after many months of a downward trend, the price of many types of nitrogen fertilizer has reversed and increased by nearly 100,000 VND/bag in just the past month. In particular, the price of many other types of fertilizer is still on a downward trend and has stabilized compared to last month.
