The National Assembly passed a resolution approving the appointment of Party Central Committee member Mai Van Chinh and Party Central Committee member - Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung as Deputy Prime Ministers for the 2021-2026 term.
At the 9th extraordinary session on February 18, the National Assembly conducted the process of perfecting a number of positions, including approving the appointment of two Deputy Prime Ministers.
The approval of the appointment of two Deputy Prime Ministers was carried out by National Assembly deputies by secret ballot.
After completing the prescribed steps, the National Assembly discussed and voted to approve the Resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal on the appointment of two personnel to the position of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term.
The personnel approved for appointment as Deputy Prime Ministers include: Party Central Committee member Mai Van Chinh and Party Central Committee member - former Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung.
After the personnel restructuring, the Government leadership includes Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and 7 Deputy Prime Ministers: Nguyen Hoa Binh, Tran Hong Ha, Le Thanh Long, Ho Duc Phoc, Bui Thanh Son, Mai Van Chinh and Nguyen Chi Dung.
Recently, implementing the policy of streamlining the apparatus, the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization was merged with the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education to form the Central Committee for Propaganda and Mass Mobilization. The Ministry of Planning and Investment was merged with the Ministry of Finance to form the Ministry of Finance.

Mr. Mai Van Chinh, born in 1961; hometown in Long An; professional qualifications: Master of Business Administration, Engineer of Agricultural Economics.
He is a member of the Party Central Committee of the 10th (alternate), 11th, 12th, and 13th terms.
Growing up as a specialist at the Office of the Long An Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Mai Van Chinh has many years of working in the locality and has held many positions such as: Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Secretary of the Thu Thua District Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Long An Provincial Party Committee.
In October 2010, Mr. Mai Van Chinh was elected Secretary of Long An Provincial Party Committee and held this position for more than 4 years.
In January 2015, he became Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, then was assigned to be Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee.
In August 2024, he was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung was born in 1960, from Ha Tinh; professional qualification: Doctor of Economic Management.
He was a member of the Party Central Committee for the 11th, 12th and 13th terms; a National Assembly delegate for the 14th and 15th terms.
During his career, Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung has worked and been associated with the Ministry of Planning and Investment for a long time, holding the positions of Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Investment Project Management, Deputy Director of the Department of Small and Medium Enterprise Development, and Director of the Department of Trade and Services.
In August 2008, he took up the position of Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment and held this position for 8 months.
In April 2009, he was transferred to the locality, holding the position of Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province.
In September 2010, he held the position of Secretary of Ninh Thuan Provincial Party Committee and held this position for more than 4 years.
From January 2014, Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung returned to the Ministry of Planning and Investment as Deputy Minister.
In April 2014, he held the position of Minister of Planning and Investment until now.
