Artist Le Sa Long confided: “While society still has many things to improve, I truly thank the true journalists who have honestly reflected life, and in difficult times, there are still good things shining. The articles of the journalists make me love life more, and have more faith in life today.”

Artist Le Sa Long greatly admires veteran journalist Huu Tho - former Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Head of the Central Ideology and Culture Department (1995-2001)... He has been a professional journalist since 1957, is a writer of investigative reports on agriculture, rural areas and current affairs sketches that have left an impression on readers. He retired in 2007 but continued to write for newspapers, holding the columns Business Stories , Life Discussions in Nhan Dan Weekend Newspaper under the pen name Nhan Nghia...

Next is journalist Nam Dong, who worked for Tuoi Tre newspaper, then for 12 years as Editor-in-Chief of Ho Chi Minh City Law newspaper. " I was impressed by his message to the class of journalists and reporters: "Journalism must be decent because it has a huge impact on society. The merit is great but the crime is also great," said artist Le Sa Long.

After retiring, journalist Nam Dong and his friends opened the Nu Cuoi social rice restaurant chain. With only 2,000 VND/meal, the Nu Cuoi rice restaurant chain has become a loving address for poor workers and low-income people.

Journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, made a strong impression on artist Le Sa Long with the Vietnam Student Youth Football Tournament. "From a long-cherished idea, journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan created an attractive playground for students. That was a strong, determined push to create a professionally organized, large-scale, civilized football playground for Vietnamese students. Therefore, after the football tournament ended successfully recently, I immediately started drawing a portrait of this talented journalist," artist Le Sa Long confided.

Talking about the reason for the painstaking drawing of journalist Vu Kim Hanh - the "godmother" of Vietnamese goods, artist Le Sa Long revealed: "At the age of over 60, she still worries every day about the future of Vietnamese goods in global trade, wishing for Vietnamese goods to develop sustainably in a green economy, ensuring resource optimization, environmental protection, and biodiversity protection in a volatile world, so I wanted to draw her portrait."

Journalist Le Van Nghia - a famous satirical writer of Saigon is a dedicated, professional writer, a role model of professional work with many memories of painter Le Sa Long. Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut, former Editor-in-Chief - Director of Tre Publishing House, wrote: "Whether writing prose or journalism, he looks up sources of information very carefully. He always digs deep into research, writing about something with certainty". According to painter Le Sa Long, journalist Le Van Nghia's writing style has a typical Saigon-style everyday dialogue, a gentle, playful narrative voice of a Southwestern writing style. When reading Le Van Nghia's works, one feels like reading the works of a ethnologist. The activities, occupations, and speech of a land, an era appear vividly like a documentary.

Painter Le Sa Long owes a debt of gratitude to journalists

There is a very interesting story that happened nearly 30 years ago. In 1994, artist Le Sa Long was the valedictorian of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts (1994-1999 school year) and he was honored to receive the Nguyen Thai Binh scholarship from Thanh Nien newspaper. Thanks to this timely attention from Thanh Nien journalists, it became the driving force that helped him overcome all difficulties, study hard and strive in his work and career to become a professional teacher and artist like today. Therefore, every time he sold a painting, artist Le Sa Long donated it to the Nguyen Thai Binh Scholarship Fund of Thanh Nien newspaper to support poor students with good academic performance, similar to his situation at that time. In addition, he also liked to draw portraits of journalists as a part of repaying those deep favors.
