Universities with the most enrollment in Economics and Technology

The Business and Management group accounts for the largest proportion of total admissions, followed by Computer and Information Technology, and Engineering Technology.

The statistics were announced by the Ministry of Education and Training at a conference on enrollment on March 15 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, the enrollment rate between fields has a large difference. The Business and Management group accounts for nearly a quarter (23.57%). This group is trained in many schools with a large number of quotas, in fields such as Business Administration, Marketing, Finance - Banking, Accounting, Auditing...

The next two groups of majors are Computer and Information Technology, Engineering Technology with rates of 11.27% and 10.05% respectively.

The remaining majors all account for less than 10% of the total number of university admissions. Many fields have less than 1%, such as Social Services (0.41%), Veterinary Medicine (0.48%). Basic science majors such as Life Sciences, Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics have an admission rate of 0.5-0.7%.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of HigherEducation , Ministry of Education and Training, assessed that the enrollment rate by field in 2023 is quite similar to that in 2022, without many fluctuations.

However, the Ministry recorded positive changes in some areas. For example, with the Engineering Technology group, the enrolment rate increased by about 1% compared to the previous year.

"Fields such as Life Sciences, Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics also recorded an increase in the rate of candidates enrolling, although still modest," said Ms. Thuy.

In 2023, of the approximately one million candidates taking the high school graduation exam, more than 546,000 will enter university, reaching a rate of 53.1%, an increase of nearly 2% over the previous year. Thus, on average, for every 100 candidates taking the exam, 53 will enter university. Compared to the total target of more than 660,000, the admission rate is more than 82%.

By locality, Binh Duong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Thua Thien Hue are the five provinces and cities with the highest percentage of students entering university. The five localities with the lowest percentage include Son La, Lai Chau, Ha Giang, Lang Son, and Dien Bien.
