On the afternoon of November 20, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province held a meeting to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024).
Attending the meeting were Standing Deputy Secretary of Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Duc Hien; Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Pham Thanh Ngai; Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan, along with a team of teachers with many achievements and positive contributions to the education cause in the locality.
At the meeting, leaders of the Ca Mau education sector reviewed the nation's tradition of "Respecting teachers" and the meaning of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20).
On September 28, 1982, according to Decision No. 167 of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, November 20 every year was chosen as Vietnam Teachers' Day. The above decision brought the role and position of teachers to a new height, the day when the whole society turned to the great and noble position of the teaching staff.
Celebrating Vietnamese Teachers' Day is also an opportunity for society to honor those who have been and are working in the industry, those who are still working day and night in the career of "cultivating people", demonstrating the tradition of "respecting teachers and valuing education" of the Vietnamese people.
Showing gratitude to teachers is also a feeling of respect, affection and gratitude and a priceless spiritual gift, encouraging the team who are working day and night for the career of "growing people".
In recent years, the education sector in Ca Mau has made continuous efforts and achieved many outstanding achievements. The rate of mobilizing 5-year-old children to go to school reached over 98.8%, completing the curriculum reached 99.26%; 6-year-old children entering grade 1 reached 99.75%, and graduating adolescents aged 15-18 reached 96.3%.
Thereby contributing to minimizing the rate of school dropouts; the literacy rate of people of literate age is quite high and increases annually.
Up to now, the whole province of Ca Mau has 495 schools, 7,753 classrooms with more than 237,000 students and more than 15,000 managers, teachers and staff at all levels. Of which, the team of teachers at all levels with qualifications meeting and exceeding the industry standards in Ca Mau is 12,060 people, accounting for more than 95.4%; 100% of officials in the education sector are trained and fostered to meet the standards according to job positions...
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province Pham Thanh Ngai acknowledged and commended the contributions of the team of managers and teachers in the province's education sector in recent times.
According to comrade Pham Thanh Ngai, over the past time, the provincial leaders have paid great attention to the field of education and training, thereby devoting many resources to investing in school facilities and improving teachers' qualifications to meet the general education program in 2018.
In the coming time, we hope that generations of teachers will continue to dedicate themselves and contribute to the education cause with their hearts and minds to impart knowledge and inspire, and motivate students.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province awarded Certificates of Merit to many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in performing tasks in the 2023-2024 school year.
