From the famous Ha Long Bay attracting tourists to the pristine Bai Tu Long Bay, from spacious, open farms to highland markets imbued with the cultural identity of ethnic groups, New tourism products proposed to be put into operation in 2023 throughout the province are like colorful strokes converging on the picture of Quang Ninh tourism.
With many potentials and advantages, the socio-economic development strategy of Quang Ninh province has identified tourism development as one of the important economic sectors, becoming a spearhead in implementing the goal of green and sustainable development. After 2 years of being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the tourism industry of Quang Ninh is beginning to welcome the summer sunshine with new development streams, first of all from the innovation of tourism products and destinations in the area.
Ha Long Bay to Bai Tu Long
The World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay has always been the pride of Quang Ninh, Vietnam, and is listed on many destinations that tourists must visit on their journey to explore the world. CNN news agency said that Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh province is one of the most famous natural landscapes in Southeast Asia and one of the most beautiful places in Vietnam; Canadian travel site The Travel voted Ha Long Bay one of the 10 most beautiful destinations in the world in 2022; Travel + Leisure (USA) also rated Ha Long Bay as a worthy tourist mecca in Asia, one of the 4 most beautiful places to watch the sunrise and sunset on the continent.
In the first quarter of 2023 alone, Ha Long Bay welcomed 385,848 visitors, including 117,377 Vietnamese visitors and 268,471 foreign visitors. According to the assessment of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) on the tourism capacity of Ha Long Bay, tourism activities here mainly rely on the available resource values and favorable natural values in the central area, leading to a difference in the number of visitors between the sightseeing routes in Ha Long Bay.
Therefore, along with familiar routes and tourism activities, many new activities are also being implemented to diversify tourism products, reduce concentration on the central area, create a premise for organizing exploitation and development of high-end tourism products in Ha Long Bay; at the same time, contributing to increasing proactiveness in management, ensuring security, safety, rescue, and preventing environmental pollution when the number of tourists is increasing.
According to Mr. Pham Dinh Huynh, Deputy Head of Ha Long Bay Management Board, in March 2023, Ha Long Bay Management Board prepared a dossier to submit to the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province for approval of 8 entertainment activity areas where organizations and individuals have invested in facilities, including: Ba Hang, Luon cave, Dong Tien lake - Trinh Nu cave, Tung Sau lagoon, Cua Van, Vung Vieng, Cong Do, Co cave and 5 areas with no service activities, including: Hon Bo Hung, Ba Ham lake, Thay cave, Cong Dam - Van Gio, Lom Bo.
Along with that, the Ha Long Bay Management Board has also developed a plan to manage and exploit the Tra San - Cong Do beach cluster on Ha Long Bay. This beach cluster is located in the southeast of the bay, about 25km from Tuan Chau International Port. With an area of about 250ha, this area owns 8 natural sand beaches with an area of 100m2 up to 800m2 , ensuring to serve tourist activities such as kayaking, sightseeing, swimming; in which, there are 4 beaches that can serve tourists' activities all day without being affected by tidal water levels.
According to the list of orientations for new tourism products expected to be put into operation in the province in 2023, which has just been approved by the Provincial People's Committee, Ha Long Bay area will meet more tourists' needs right from the 2023 summer tourist season with services such as: Food and beverage services on cruise ships at the inland waterway wharf of Ha Long International Port (Cruise Night Street); sports activities, entertainment and sailing on the bay; music listening services on Ha Long Bay; rest stops, services, sightseeing combined with buying and selling seafood, introducing products at Cap Tao lagoon; Ha Long Bay check-in point associated with the heritage symbol at Dau Go cave lookout bridge... All services are guaranteed to have no negative impact on the world natural heritage of Ha Long Bay.
Right next to the radiant Ha Long Bay is the more peaceful Bai Tu Long Bay with its myriad of rocky islands and many large and small inhabited islands. When coming to Bai Tu Long, visitors will have a different experience as a fisherman when learning about the lives of islanders, with fishing villages and aquaculture.
Implementing the Project "Overall management and development of sea and island tourism products in Ha Long Bay - Bai Tu Long Bay - Van Don - Co To", sea and island tourism products to the East of Quang Ninh province have been built and developed to promote the potential of this field in areas outside Ha Long Bay as well as form a high-quality sea and island tourism chain throughout the area.
At the end of February, Van Don district put into use the high-class Ao Tien port with 5 wharves, 2 of which are 20m wide and 150m long, capable of receiving ships of up to 300 seats and 3 auxiliary wharves for yachts and small ships. The wharf area can simultaneously receive 150 cruise ships. This will be the basis and driving force to connect with tourist routes and destinations in Bai Tu Long Bay; thereby, helping to connect tours and routes between Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay and the region, renewing tourism products and attracting domestic and international tourists.
From March 2023, 2 sightseeing routes on Bai Tu Long Bay departing from Ao Tien International Port (Van Don district) have been approved for immediate operation, including: Route 1 with a total journey of 53km from Ao Tien Port - Phat Co Cave - Pearl Farming (Hon Da Den) - Hon Qua - Cong Lao Vong - Hon Dua - Minh Chau Island - Ao Tien Port and Route 2 with a total journey of 30km from Ao Tien Port - Tay Hoi Island - Meo Luoi Islet - Ban Sen - Nha Tro Cave - Ao Tien Port.

Not only is it known for its long, windy sandy beaches, Quang Ninh is also known for its vast and green farms. In recent years, the golden orange gardens in Van Don district have appeared more and more on the travel itineraries of tourists visiting Quang Ninh.
As planned, in November 2023, Van Don Orange Week will be held in village 10/10, Van Yen commune, Van Don district. This is the village adjacent to Highway 334, the main road of Van Don district. Currently, orange gardens are preparing the necessary conditions for plant care, garden landscaping, and adding programs, activities, and experiential services to be ready to welcome visitors to visit and experience.
Mr. Hoang Van Hung, owner of Orange Garden 66 (Van Yen Farm Cooperative) said: The time to organize the week is also the time when the oranges are ripe. We are taking good care of the orange trees, planting more quality orange trees in the garden, hillsides, and streams. Visitors will certainly enjoy the patches of yellow oranges laden with fruit in the fresh and light mountain air. The orange garden will also have additional services such as camping, enjoying local products, folk games... so that visitors will have more emotions and good impressions when coming to the farm.
The Po Hen highland market is a product imbued with ethnic minority culture that will bring visitors many surprises and interesting things. This product has been approved by the Provincial People's Committee in the list of new tourism products, expected to be put into operation from September 2, 2023 in the area of 3 communes: Quang Duc (Hai Ha district), Hai Son, Bac Son (Mong Cai city).
The market here will be held once every Saturday with the participation of local people. Visitors will have the opportunity to visit and shop for local specialties such as: Golden flower tea, black duck, local pig, vegetables, tubers, fruits, medicinal leaves of ethnic people, clothes of San Chi and Dao people... Besides, enjoying dishes with the unique identity of Dao and San Chi people such as roast duck, black duck, tray cuisine, wild buffalo meat, thang co, buffalo meat, smoked pork... prepared by local people is also a must-have experience for any visitor.
Along with participating in the market, visitors can visit the beautiful mountain and forest landscape in this area, with many famous landmarks such as Po Hen Historical Site, the colorful mural village in the middle of the Northeast mountains and forests, 72-chamber waterfall - Trang Vinh lake, Panai mountain, Ma Thau Son, Sim Hill and many other unique traditional cultural and artistic features, special culinary arts, and unique folk games.
With the right attention and investment, Quang Ninh tourism industry is preparing a premise for strong and comprehensive development, focusing on promoting the potential and internal strength of localities and destinations through specific projects and plans with long-term vision. These will be solid steps to realize the goal of making Quang Ninh one of the dynamic and comprehensive development centers, an international tourism center by 2030.
