Today (February 27) is the last day for young people to join the army to perform their military service this year nationwide.
If you want to be better, you must be ready to overcome all challenges and difficulties. Whatever the boys can do, we can do too. I believe that the military environment with strict training will help me and my friends grow up every day, and will help us a lot in life.
LE LINH CHI
Put aside work, choose the army
Standing out among thousands of new recruits in the capital Hanoi this year are two female recruits, Hoang Ngoc Anh (24 years old) and Le Linh Chi (26 years old), both residing in Dong Da district.
Two female recruits impressed many people at the meeting before their enlistment day when they volunteered to join the army. Both had stable jobs but chose to put them aside to fulfill their civic duty.
Linh Chi's family has a military tradition. Chi's grandparents met during the Dien Bien Phu campaign and got married in a mass wedding at the front. Her father and uncles also grew up in the army.
Chi currently has a cousin who is participating in a United Nations peacekeeping mission in South Sudan. It is only natural that the young girl will continue the family tradition.
After graduating from art college and then studying law, Chi started working at a bank. There were many opportunities open to her, but Chi chose to challenge herself in the military environment.
Ngoc Anh's family is the same, both parents are soldiers. Even though she has been working for two years and has a stable income, Ngoc Anh still chose to challenge herself by volunteering to join the army like Linh Chi.
Meanwhile, Pham Thu Thao (24 years old, living in Tan Phu district, Ho Chi Minh City) graduated with a degree in English and is working at a ground services company at the airport. But because of her dream of serving in the army for a long time, and because her parents and brother have served in the army, Thao volunteered to join the army this time.
Another steel rose of Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Vu Xuan Mai (23 years old, living in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) will also join the army today, realizing her dream of becoming a soldier of Uncle Ho that she has cherished since childhood.
Her father was a military doctor, so stories about soldiers became familiar in Mai's family. After finishing her major in multimedia communications, Mai collaborated with the Military Zone 7 newspaper, which also gave her the opportunity to get closer to the military environment.
As soon as she knew there was a quota for female soldiers this year, Mai immediately wrote a volunteer application.
"I want to stay long-term, contribute my efforts to the Fatherland and will try to train to become more mature, using my professional knowledge to serve in the army" - Mai shared.

Love grows
Ngoc Anh said that since she was little, she had a special love for the color of the soldier's uniform and the military style and discipline. That childhood dream was nurtured and grew in the little girl's heart.
Writing a volunteer application to join the army, the girl said she was both moved and proud because she thought about the day she would put on the soldier's uniform, not only following her parents' example but also becoming their "comrade".
"At what can be said to be the most beautiful age of my life, I am determined to set out to better understand the difficulties and challenges that my grandparents and parents have gone through. The biggest motivation that urges me to set out to fulfill my sacred duty to the Fatherland is to continue the journey of a family with a revolutionary tradition" - Ngoc Anh confided.
Thu Thao also said her biggest wish was to follow in her family's military footsteps, so she intended to enlist in the army after finishing high school, but at that time there were no quotas.
That love for the military uniform was nurtured by Thao during four years of university and now came true when he volunteered to join the army.
Thao spent the last Tet holiday saying goodbye to her friends. She said that her relatives and friends were very supportive but also a bit worried because they were afraid that Thao would have a hard time, but everyone encouraged her.
"I just try my best and try to complete the task well. If others can do it, I can do it too" - Thao smiled.
Thao's older brother Pham Trung Hieu said he was surprised by his sister's decision but was proud that she understood the family tradition. So he not only encouraged her but also told her about the good things in the military, as well as the challenges, as a way to prepare her to follow in the family's footsteps.

"I think this is not only an obligation but also a responsibility of every citizen. I received great support and encouragement from my family when I went to perform my military service to have the best mentality, ready for the upcoming tasks" - Hoang said.
Join the Party before joining the army
Quite special, Le Linh Chi and Hoang Ngoc Anh were admitted to the Party close to the day of their military enlistment. The joy seemed to be multiplied for the two new female recruits.
In the oath taken on the day of joining the Party under the national flag, the Party flag and before the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh, there is not only the oath of the new Party member but also the wish to strive to always be worthy of being an exemplary Party member, a good citizen, a soldier worthy of the title of Uncle Ho's soldier.
