I went too far with my joke… sorry again.

Last weekend, on stage at a popular show in Ho Chi Minh City, rapper Negav (real name Dang Thanh An, born in 2001) made a statement that caused a lot of controversy. Specifically, this rapper said: "While standing here, I just want to tell my mom. Mom, do you see? Do you think it was right to let me quit school? "

Immediately after the above statement, many opinions said that this male rapper was promoting dropping out of school. In particular, what the rapper said in front of thousands of audiences at the concert with diverse ages, including many young fans who are in school, was considered "out of place, in the wrong place".

After the performance, rapper Negav apologized on his personal page. " Negav caused misunderstandings when sharing in front of the crowd about going to school - dropping out of school. This is a personal and sincere sharing from me to my mother, the way I usually talk to my mother, absolutely not encouraging friends to drop out of school like me and take pride in that. Negav knows he chose the wrong context to speak so he wants to openly share clearly here with everyone," the rapper wrote.

However, many comments say that it is "unsightly" for celebrities to speak freely in front of a crowd, regardless of right or wrong, then apologize and ask for sympathy.

Typically, a Facebook commenter named TBV said: “When standing in front of a large audience, every word and gesture of the idols will be engraved in the hearts of fans, and can be imitated. Therefore, celebrities need to be very careful when speaking in public because not all opinions are correct, but the tendency of fans will always create a mentality of defending and protecting idols no matter how wrong they are. This is really dangerous and difficult to control, even when the idol apologizes.”

The wave of outrage against Negav has not stopped yet. Criticism has only intensified as the rapper's past vulgar and offensive posts and comments have been "dug up".

In fact, many young people today misunderstand the issue of the destination of success originating from the path of study. They think that going to university is not necessary, the important thing is to work according to passion and interest. Even many people, even though they have studied until the 3rd or 4th year of university, still decide to quit to follow their interests, typically building and becoming famous on social networks.

Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the value of learning. Specifically, in terms of wealth, the world's top billionaire today is Elon Musk. He is currently the owner of the Space X Group, a research and development corporation for space exploration rockets, and the world's largest electric car company Tesla, with a net worth of nearly 270 billion USD. In terms of education, he also made many people admire him when he studied at Queen's University in Canada for 2 years, then transferred to the University of Pennsylvania in the US. He graduated from the Wharton School in 1995 with a degree in Physics and Economics.

In addition, there are many stories that are misunderstood about billionaires who dropped out of Harvard to become rich like Mark Zuckerberg or Bill Gates. But never consider dropping out of school as a factor that can exist or justify the desire to become great or billionaire. Because that has never been the reason that Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg mentioned to justify or prove their success today. And even when leaving school, both of these billionaires received honorary degrees from Harvard University for having conducted many in-depth studies, leaving great achievements for the science and technology of humanity.

Returning to rapper Negav's statement about not taking education seriously, many comments also said that this young man still lacks the understanding of the true meaning of the word "study". Because even if he left school, if he did not go through the process of practicing music and studying hard, how could he become a professional artist like today.

Besides, being famous does not mean stopping learning. This has been demonstrated by a Vietnamese female rapper with the stage name Suboi (real name Hang Lam Trang Anh). Her constant learning and practicing was revealed after a native-like exchange in English in 2016 with former US President Barack Obama. The results of Suboi's cultivation and synthesis after her research in the field of art really impressed the President when her image continued to be posted in a video documenting Barack Obama's impressive moments during his 8 years as US President.

Therefore, in any form, learning and practicing are always important factors leading to success. In addition, although knowing that openness, being true to oneself, daring to think and dare to do are the materials for rappers to be able to create outstanding products. But they need to note that, when they become famous, become idols, stand on the big stage, their every word and gesture will always be the highlight. Therefore, they always have to be careful in every statement and if there is a mistake, they must endure pressure from the audience and the media to overcome and improve themselves.
