New Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh promised to innovate thinking and exploit the best resources to contribute more to the country's development.
On the afternoon of May 25, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented the President's appointment decision to Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Khanh said he was fortunate to inherit the best achievements left by the previous leaders of the Ministry. Faced with the difficulties and challenges that are and will be posed in practice, Mr. Khanh said that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will continue to advise on the development of the legal system, "especially the Land Law (amended) which is of great interest to the people of the whole country".
"I hope to bring the new policies of the Party and State in the field of natural resources and environment into reality and into life," the new Minister expressed.

Understanding that the state management tasks of the industry are very broad, from the fields of land, water resources, minerals, geology, environment, hydrometeorology, climate change, seas, islands..., Mr. Khanh promised "from the first days of taking office, he will promptly grasp the work, together with the collective leadership of the Ministry to carry out key, priority, immediate and long-term tasks".
He "will strengthen state management, strongly innovate thinking, and exploit natural resources and the environment to the best of his ability. Many drafts will be completed, including the Land Law (amended), the Water Resources Law (amended) for the National Assembly to pass in the last session of 2023."
The new Minister also said that he will resolutely direct the successful implementation of orientations and solutions in the spirit of the Central Resolutions on resource management, environmental protection and climate change adaptation; taking advantage of opportunities from global trends in digital transformation, digital economy, low-carbon economy, circular economy, and green growth. He expects that resources and environment will continue to be an important economic sector, contributing more to the country's development; continuing to decentralize, delegate power, and focus on the grassroots.
Speaking at the assignment of tasks to new Minister Dang Quoc Khanh, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the industry's work is closely related to people and businesses, and is closely related to the country's development in the context of many difficulties and challenges.
Therefore, the Government leader requested the Ministry to continue to innovate; build strategies, plans, institutions, and legal corridors; have mechanisms and policies to effectively mobilize resources; promote decentralization and delegation of authority associated with appropriate resource allocation; improve the capacity of enforcement officers and strengthen inspection and supervision.
The Prime Minister wants the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to promote green development, because this is a global trend, contributing to achieving the goal of zero net emissions by 2050. This is a common task of the whole country, the entire population, and the political system, but the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment plays a key role.
"If we maintain unity, the results will be different at different times, if we don't get this person, we will get that person, if we don't get this thing, we will get that thing, if we don't get much, we will get a little, but if we lose unity, we will lose everything," the Prime Minister reminded.
Previously, on the afternoon of May 22, the National Assembly approved the appointment of Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh - Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee, as Minister of Natural Resources and Environment for the 2021-2026 term. Mr. Khanh, along with Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi, are the two youngest members of the current Government, both 47 years old.
Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh is from Tien Dien commune, Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province; has a PhD in Urban and Construction Management, civil and industrial construction engineer; alternate member of the 12th Party Central Committee; member of the 13th Party Central Committee; National Assembly delegate of the 14th and 15th terms.
He started his career in Ha Tinh in 1999 as a specialist in the Appraisal Department of the Department of Construction, then held many positions such as Director of the Department of Construction, Secretary of Nghi Xuan District, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. At the time of taking office as Chairman of Ha Tinh Province in 2016, Mr. Khanh was the youngest provincial chairman in the country - 40 years old. Three years later, in July 2019, Mr. Khanh was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee.
