In recent times, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (PTTH&TTĐT - Ministry of Information and Communications) has strengthened state management of cross-border advertising service business activities to ensure the safety of brands and trademarks; at the same time, contributing to raising awareness of compliance with legal regulations for domestic and foreign enterprises when participating in advertising service business activities in Vietnam.

Through monitoring, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information discovered that the advertising content of some brands such as P/S toothpaste, Clear and Tresemmé hair care products (belonging to Unilever Vietnam International Company Limited); Coca-Cola soft drink (belonging to Coca-Cola Vietnam Company) was placed in the content that violated Vietnamese law on cross-border platforms such as Nguoixxx.com; Dailymxxx.com.

Through investigation, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information learned that the installation of advertising products that violate Vietnamese law was carried out by RTB Company (Singapore) and Dailymotion Company (France). This is a violation of Vietnamese advertising law and has a great impact on the brand safety and reputation of the businesses that own the above-mentioned trademarks.

Faced with the above situation, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information requested RTB Company and Dailymotion Company to immediately stop their violations. At the same time, the Ministry of Information and Communications requested the related companies to take more effective management measures to ensure that similar violations do not continue in the future.

Specifically, companies are not allowed to place advertising products on content that violates the law according to the provisions of Decree No. 70/2021/ND-CP dated July 20, 2021 of the Government amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 181/2013/ND-CP dated November 14, 2013 of the Government detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Advertising, and at the same time strengthen inspection, supervision, and filtering of advertisements that violate Vietnamese law.

The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information recommends that businesses use the "verified" content list (White List) and the "bad, toxic" content list (Black List) to ensure the safety of brands and trademarks in Vietnam.
