As a tour guide who regularly takes tourists to experience the southern provinces of Laos, Mr. Tran Cong Huong, in Dong Ha City, is very satisfied with the way the border guards handle immigration procedures at La Lay International Border Gate. “What we appreciate is that the border guards are very enthusiastic and attentive in their work. Thanks to that, the procedures are always handled quickly even though the working conditions here are not very favorable and comfortable because the infrastructure has not been invested in synchronously,” Mr. Huong shared.

To achieve this, closely following the actual situation of import-export and immigration activities (XNK, XNC), officers and soldiers of La Lay International Border Guard Station have made great efforts to successfully complete their tasks. “The unit regularly performs well in political and ideological work, assigns more troops, and works overtime to perform tasks, ensuring strict inspection, control, registration, regulation, and flow of vehicles carrying goods in and out of the border gate area.

At the same time, it is necessary to apply information technology well, improve working style and manners, and raise the sense of responsibility of officers and soldiers in performing their duties; invest in installing information and instruction boards in three languages: Vietnamese, Lao, and English at border gates to facilitate businesses, people, and tourists.

Along with that, it is necessary to do a good job of grasping the situation in all aspects, synchronously implementing professional measures to manage and maintain security and order at the border gate; promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle acts and violations in the fields of import and export, immigration and causing insecurity and disorder in the border gate area", said the Head of the Border Control Station, Lao Bao International Border Guard Station, Major Tran Ngoc Hoat.

Present at the La Lay International Border Gate area, the reporter noticed that the number of cargo vehicles passing through the border gate had increased dramatically, while the roads were narrow, the passes were steep and winding, many sections were damaged, and the warehouse infrastructure was under construction, causing traffic jams at many times of the day. The officers and soldiers of the La Lay International Border Gate Station closely coordinated with the functional forces to deploy solutions to ensure smooth import-export and border-gate activities.

In particular, focusing on regulating and dividing vehicles, ensuring traffic order and safety; supporting and improving the efficiency of customs clearance of goods, arranging personnel to increase working time, organizing inspection, control, registration, supervision and procedures for people and vehicles entering and leaving the country quickly, strictly and in accordance with regulations...

The efforts of the soldiers in green uniforms have been an important condition for the import-export and border-gate transfer activities through La Lay International Border Gate to increase sharply from the beginning of 2025 to March 23, 2025 compared to the same period last year. Specifically, the number of import-export declarations reached 803, equal to 123% over the same period; the number of means of transport for import-export reached 28,449, equal to 123% over the same period; the total weight of goods cleared through customs reached 694,000 tons, equal to 158% over the same period; the value of goods in transit was 12,849,000 USD, equal to 109% over the same period; the state budget revenue was 157,964 million VND, equal to 187% over the same period...

Political Commissar of La Lay International Border Guard Station, Lieutenant Colonel Le Dang Hoang said: “In the face of many difficulties in infrastructure and working conditions, but closely following the direction of the Provincial Border Guard Command and the practical situation, the officers and soldiers of the unit are always united and make the highest efforts to synchronously and effectively deploy all aspects of border work, while closely coordinating with functional forces to ensure that import-export and transit activities at the border gate are always smooth and convenient”.

La Lay International Border Gate was upgraded to a main border gate by the governments of Vietnam and Laos on April 30, 1998 and upgraded to an international border gate on June 25, 2014. The efforts of officers and soldiers of La Lay International Border Gate have actively contributed to making this place increasingly vibrant, playing an important role in connecting trade of goods, expanding service and tourism activities.

Thereby, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of Quang Tri province in general and the border area in particular as well as firmly protecting territorial sovereignty, national border security and developing the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
