On behalf of the leaders of Dien Bien province, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong expressed his joy and excitement to welcome Mr. Marc E. Knapper, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Vietnam to visit Dien Bien province on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. The Provincial Party Committee Secretary informed the Ambassador about the natural conditions, socio-economic development situation and potentials and strengths in the fields of agriculture, tourism and energy of Dien Bien province. The Provincial Party Committee Secretary also gave an overview of the potential of renewable energy, wind power and solar power. The Provincial Party Committee Secretary emphasized that many localities in the province are currently facing water shortages, so the province is focusing on investing in the construction of irrigation projects and spillways to supply water to people. In the near future, the province will establish Dien Bien Phu University and hopes that the Ambassador will pay attention and connect so that students can be trained in English.
Provincial Party Secretary Tran Quoc Cuong asked the Ambassador to pay attention and support people to raise awareness of legitimate religious activities, recognized by law, thereby practicing healthy religious activities and not following heretical religions. Dien Bien hopes to welcome many tourists from the United States of America to visit, learn and support resources to help people improve their material and spiritual lives.
Mr. Marc E. Knapper appreciated the sentiments and warm welcome of the provincial leaders, and expressed his joy at arriving in Dien Bien at a time when the province was actively coordinating with ministries, branches, and the Central Government to prepare for the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory. The Ambassador highly appreciated the information and opinions shared by the Provincial Party Secretary. The Ambassador said that in the coming time, he would connect and support the province in areas where Dien Bien has potential and advantages, especially in the fields of transnational crime prevention and control, religion, education, health, and agriculture.
