Today, August 16, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital announced the latest prices for examination and surgery services upon request. Most of the prices of these services have been adjusted down, fluctuating by an average of 10 - 20%; some technical services have a reduction of up to tens of millions of VND/surgery.
Specifically, for on-demand examinations, the maximum price range of 1 - 2 million VND/examination has now been reduced to 500,000 VND/examination. The current applicable level is also the highest ceiling prescribed by the Ministry of Health in Circular 13/2023.
Many types of surgery at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital have reduced prices, effective from August 15.
Nearly 1,500 technical services at the hospital, including services with a high proportion of appointments, are also discounted. The average discount ranges from 10 to 30%, depending on the service.
In particular, color Doppler ultrasound of the heart or blood vessels has been reduced from 500,000 VND/time to 380,000 VND/time; ultrasound of the penis has been reduced from 300,000 VND/time to 196,000 VND/time; ultrasound of the thyroid gland has been reduced from 300,000 VND/time to 196,000 VND/time.
Intravenous injection and infusion reduced from 100,000 VND/time to 46,000 VND/time; ultrasound-guided joint fluid aspiration reduced from 700,000 VND/time to 330,000 VND/time.
EEG services used to have many prices ranging from 1.5 - 5 million VND/time (applied for different time frames), now reduced to 340,000 VND/time.
Some high-cost diagnostic technical services have seen sharp reductions, such as: 64-128-row CT Scan without contrast agent reduced from 5.6 million VND/time to more than 2.3 million VND/time.
Kidney transplant prices reduced by more than 50%
Notably, many surgeries at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital have had new price frames applied since August 15 with very sharp reductions.
Typically, total hip replacement surgery has decreased from 16 million VND/case to more than 12.8 million VND/case (a decrease of nearly 3.2 million VND/case); surgery to remove lumbar disc herniation and surgery to treat tendon sclerosis or joint sclerosis has decreased from 13 million VND/case to more than 7.7 million VND/case; coronary artery bypass surgery has decreased from 63 million VND/case to 59.2 million VND/case; surgery on large blood vessels has decreased from 61 million VND/case to 37.2 million VND/case.
In particular, the price on request for autologous kidney and ureter transplant technique from 50 million VND/case (before August 15) is now only over 16.54 million VND/case.
Other common surgeries such as appendectomy are now more than 9.5 million VND/case compared to the previous price of 13 million VND/case. Laparoscopic ligament reconstruction surgery has decreased from 15 million VND/case to more than 11 million VND/case; surgery for hemorrhoids or anal fissures, anal fistula abscesses has decreased from 10 million VND/case to more than 8 million VND/case.
According to the Ministry of Health, Circular 13/2023 aims to basically unify the principles of calculating prices for on-demand services in public hospitals. On-demand services are calculated correctly, with sufficient reasonable costs and accumulated for reinvestment and development, while still meeting the diverse needs and affordability of service users.
