Recently, the American International School (AISVN) sent an email to parents informing them that the school is expected to reopen in January 2025. However, parents still have questions about whether the American International School has been licensed to reopen?
On November 1, some parents said they received an email notification from the Council of American International Schools stating that the school is expected to reopen in January 2025.
Upon receiving this information, Mr. Ho Tan Minh - Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that up to this point, the department has not received any documents from the American International School regarding its eligibility to be granted a license to resume operations.

Mr. Minh affirmed that the American International School must ensure that the regulations, financial conditions, personnel... are sufficient for the operation of aneducational institution before the Department of Education and Training will consider granting a license to resume operations.
Specifically, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thu introduced herself as the Acting President of the American International School Council and sent a letter to parents with the following content:
"Not letting everyone down, the AISVN School Board, parents, teachers, staff, old and new staff have worked together to solve the school's difficulties over the past 2 months, to ensure that AISVN will reopen as scheduled in January 2025...
From next week, we will be renovating and upgrading our facilities, upgrading our IT systems, and preparing for the new school year. At the same time, we will also publish information about our teaching and learning programs, survey information to solicit parents' opinions on facilities, transportation, and update and exchange information between the school and parents and the community."
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training decided to suspend the educational activities of the American International School for a period of 12 months from July 1, 2024.
Pursuant to the provisions of Point b Clause 1 Article 50 of the 2019 Law on Education and Point b Clause 1 Article 30 of Decree No. 46/2017/ND-CP of the Government , the American International School was suspended from operation due to failure to ensure the conditions for permission to operate education.
Among these factors are that the school does not have enough financial resources as prescribed to ensure the maintenance and development of educational activities; the number of educational management staff is not sufficient to implement educational programs and organize educational activities.
