Mr. Ho Tan Minh - Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City said that as of 2:00 p.m. this afternoon (August 29), there were 326 students of the American International School who had not yet moved. This number does not include high school graduates, students who moved back to their hometowns from the province, students who studied abroad, and students with foreign nationality who returned to their home country with their parents. Meanwhile, the number of students who have moved is 757.
According to Mr. Minh, the Department has issued an official dispatch on supporting school transfers for students of the American International School. For primary school students and grades 6, 7, and 8, the Departments of Education and Training of districts, towns, and Thu Duc City will support the arrangement of students with residential addresses in the area to enroll in educational institutions.
For 9th graders and high school students, the Department of Secondary Education (Department of Education and Training) coordinates with high schools and multi-level general schools to arrange and schedule admission according to regulations.
For the remaining cases (without identification code), the Department of Primary Education and Secondary Education will support arranging study places for students.
The Department of Education and Training has also coordinated with the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc district, city to arrange study places for all students in public schools according to their addresses, and has sent admission notices to parents. At the same time, the Department has sent invitations to parents to attend a school transfer orientation session.
In addition, the Department and the Departments of Education and Training of districts, towns, Thu Duc City... have fully prepared to support the reception of parents and guide the school transfer procedures. However, many parents have not arrived and have not transferred their students to other schools.
“For those who have not completed the school transfer procedures, parents are requested to quickly contact the local Department of Education and Training for instructions on admission procedures before September 5,” said Mr. Minh.
The Department's Chief of Staff affirmed that, based on objective and subjective conditions, the American International School cannot resume educational activities in the 2024-2025 school year. As the state manager of education, the Department recommends that parents, with their responsibilities and obligations, transfer their students to other schools to ensure that they can continue their studies.
