Train driver Helen Antenucci has become such a familiar sight that many people wait to ride her train.

UPI reported on June 14 that the Guinness World Records Organization has recognized an 82-year-old woman in Boston (Massachusetts, USA) as the world's oldest train driver.

Helen Antenucci started working at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority in 1995 at age 53 and has driven Blue Line trains for nearly three decades.

The image of the old train driver has become so familiar in the lives of many passengers that many people wait for her train to take them into the city every day.

When asked why she hasn't retired yet, Antenucci said she really enjoys working and meeting passengers. "I've known many people for many years, they get on the train to work, to school every day. It makes me happy to be able to get them to their destination quickly and safely."

However, the old lady shared another reason why she still sticks with her job at her "old age". "I have 5 daughters. It helps me get out of the house to find peaceful moments", she said.

She was recognized by Guinness World Records after a colleague applied on her behalf. She did not know about the application until the record was recognized.

Now approaching her 82nd birthday, she has no plans to retire. “I will continue to fly passengers until the company no longer allows me to, but I don’t think that will happen anytime soon,” Antenucci said.
