The conference was chaired by Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Mr. Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the Southern region.
Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, highly appreciated the organization of the 2024 National Press Conference organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City on the largest scale ever, achieving the greatest success ever.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his joy at learning that in 2023, the Central and local Journalists Associations achieved many impressive results. In particular, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department emphasized that the work of ideological education and improving the political capacity of journalists and members of the Vietnam Journalists Association has been strengthened and brought into play positive effects.
The consolidation and improvement of the organization of the Vietnam Journalists Association has been given attention, thereby creating unity, solidarity, and strongly promoting the role of the Association. The Association's operating methods have many innovations and creativity to meet the requirements of a modern, revolutionary press. In addition, educational activities on the glorious tradition of Vietnam's revolutionary press have been given attention and organized regularly through activities on the source, organizing seminars and discussions on the history of revolutionary press.
The Head of the Central Propaganda Department also highly appreciated the results achieved by the Vietnam Journalists Association in 2023, especially the effectiveness of professional work, with the success of the National Press Awards, the High-Quality Journalism Support Program, the Workshops, Seminars, Training on Digital Journalism, Media and Journalism Technology and Digital Transformation, the International Journalism Workshop "Digital Newsroom Management: Theory, Practice and Experience in the ASEAN Region" and the National Journalism Forum were very successfully organized during the National Journalism Festival in 2024.
At the same time, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department noted a number of key tasks to implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association for the 2020-2025 term, the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day and towards the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association for the 2025-2030 term.
In particular, to overcome the phenomenon of some levels of the Association and press agencies still violating the law and professional ethics of journalists, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department requested that the Association of Journalists at all levels step up propaganda and dissemination work, strengthen inspection and supervision of members, especially reporters of resident press agencies.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia also paid special attention to innovation to continue to maintain and affirm the position of the National Press Awards. The National Press Awards must be the most important prestigious awards of the press nationwide. At the same time, he requested that the Party Committee, the Standing Committee, and the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association urgently lead, direct, and effectively implement the preparation work for the 12th Vietnam Journalists Congress, term 2025-2030...
Vietnam Journalists Association holds National Conference in 2024
Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association shared: "Through many practical forms and activities, the Association and its levels have been recognized and highly appreciated by the Party, State and People in promoting their role as a representative organization to protect the rights and legitimate interests of journalists in their practice and educating journalists to comply with the law, regulations and professional ethics of journalists."
Mr. Le Quoc Minh suggested that the delegates attending from their work practices, with a sense of responsibility, frankness and constructiveness, focus on discussing and evaluating in a substantive and objective manner the results achieved in 2023, look directly at the shortcomings and limitations, clearly identify the causes, propose key tasks and breakthrough solutions to create a strong shift in press activities and the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the coming time.
Point out the difficulties and challenges from the current practice of press activities and the Association's activities, especially press agencies and Journalists Associations at all levels in implementing the national digital transformation strategy. Discuss and propose solutions to continue to innovate and improve the effectiveness of direction and management, in innovating content and methods to increase the attractiveness, quality and effectiveness of the Journalists Association's activities.
Reporting on the summary of the Association's work in 2023 and the implementation of key tasks in 2024, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi said that by the end of February 2024, the entire Association had 25,424 members operating in 307 units at all levels of the Association (63 Provincial and Municipal Journalists Associations, 21 Inter-Associations, 223 Sub-Associations under the Association) with 13,435 members, 63 Provincial and Municipal Journalists Associations accounted for more than 50% of the number of members nationwide.
In 2023, the policy of "Towards the grassroots" of the Party Central Committee, the Standing Committee, the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association has been implemented synchronously, drastically and achieved high efficiency in the work of building, consolidating and perfecting the Association's organization from the Central to the grassroots level; Building the Association's organization to be increasingly strong in terms of organization, professional expertise, inspection and supervision and promptly protecting the legitimate and legal rights of members and journalists.
In 2024, the theme of the year's activities is: "Continue to build a strong Association: Solidarity - Discipline - Innovation - Creativity - Development", complete the entire program, conduct Congresses of all levels of the Association of Journalists towards the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association, term 2025-2030".
At the conference, delegates also gave opinions and discussed issues of enhancing party spirit and orientation in press activities; promoting the completion of regulations and guidelines to improve the quality of activities of local resident reporters' associations; improving photo skills for reporters to meet multimedia information requirements...
Within the framework of the Conference, the Vietnam Journalists Association also summarized the emulation and reward work in 2023. Announced the Decisions on commendation and awarding prizes to collectives, individuals and units. Specifically, certificates of merit were awarded to 29 collectives of the Association and 51 individuals with outstanding achievements in professional work and building the Association in 2023.
