Appearing on China's first reality TV show about careers, Offer, season 5, trainee Hoang Khai moved people when sharing his journey from a physical therapist to conquering his dream of passing the master's degree in Law at Tsinghua University (China) 5 times.

Hoang Khai was born in 1995 in Fuzhou (Fujian, China). When he was one year old, his parents divorced, so he lived with his grandparents since he was a child. At that time, his grandparents were over 60 years old, and should have been resting, but they still had to take care of their grandchild.

Despite financial difficulties and old age, his grandparents still raised Hoang Khai well. In 2013, he took the university entrance exam and passed the Physical Therapy Doctorate of Fujian Medical University (China). This result was a great consolation for Hoang Khai's grandparents. At that time, he was also the only person in the village to pass the university entrance exam.

Hoang Khai's choice to study medicine came from his mother's suggestion. He recalls: "At that time, my mother called me and said I should study medicine or education. In her mind, for children from rural areas, this choice was safe. She emphasized that if I did not listen, I would regret it after graduating."

It was also because of the fear of having difficulty finding a job and the difficult family situation of not being able to rely on anyone that Hoang Khai decided to study medicine. Although he reluctantly chose this major, he still told himself: "When I become a doctor, I will be able to repay my grandparents' kindness in raising me."

To make up for his passion and enthusiasm for the profession, Hoang Khai has always been diligent throughout his four years at university. He even realized that doing scientific research in a field he did not like would be difficult, but he still tried hard every day. No matter how hard he tried, the gap between Hoang Khai's ability and skills compared to his friends was difficult to narrow.

After graduating from university in July 2017, Hoang Khai worked at Xiamen Haishang Hospital (Fujian, China). To continue improving his skills, in 2018, he took the postgraduate entrance exam for Physical Therapy but failed. This failure made Hoang Khai realize that the path ahead was increasingly vague.

In 2019, he took the master's exam for the second time, majoring in Finance, but luck still did not come. After choosing the wrong major for his master's exam twice, in June 2020, he decided to quit his job at the hospital to find his true passion. "My grandparents gave me strength on the path to pursuing my dream," he recalled.

At this time, when he sat down to think about the reason for failing the exam twice, Hoang Khai realized that he liked Law. His goal was to pass Tsinghua University (China). To reach his dream, Hoang Khai spent another 3 years taking the master's exam. After 5 years of not giving up, at the age of 27, he finally reaped the first sweet fruit.

Spending 4 years studying medicine and 5 years taking a master's exam in a different field to pass, Hoang Khai's determination inspires young people. Despite experiencing countless difficulties in life, from his parents' divorce to adversity not being recognized by them, for Hoang Khai, nothing is more helpless than having to study and do something he is not passionate about.

Coming to Heart-Touching Offer 5, Hoang Khai wanted to give himself a chance. "After graduating with a master's degree, I was 30, an age not suitable for becoming a lawyer. Therefore, I have never applied for a job at a law firm. However, this time I want to take a risk so that I will not regret it later. If I compare myself to others, I am definitely inferior to them. But looking back on this journey, I have achieved what I wanted."

After going through some events, Hoang Khai realized that most of his past choices were hindered by lack of financial resources.

"If my family had the financial means, I would have taken the university entrance exam a second time and not spent 5 years taking the master's exam. Because I had to work and study at the same time, the financial burden was on my shoulders. If I had the money, I would have devoted myself to studying, and who knows, maybe I would have passed the exam just once," he confided.

At the end of the program, Hoang Khai was not the lucky intern to receive a job offer at Canh Thien Cong Thanh Law Firm (China), but his story brought many emotions to the audience. Looking back on the past journey, for Hoang Khai, the steps in the past were not meaningless.

"Each stage helps me grow and gain more experience. After facing storms, I want to say: When coming to this world, everyone has their own life script. If you are in a difficult period, you should encourage yourself: Good things ahead are always waiting for us. Remember that we always have to continue, our efforts will be rewarded accordingly," said Hoang Khai.

Currently, Hoang Khai is still in the process of completing his Master of Law program at Tsinghua University (China). Without sharing specific plans for the future, Hoang Khai only hopes to complete his goal soon to repay his grandparents.
