Three farmers in Thai Binh, one raises oysters, the other grows rice and vegetables, all earning billions of dong.

Thai Binh farmers are increasingly asserting themselves on the journey of modern agricultural production.

In the early spring, when visiting the countryside of Thai Binh, it is easy to see farmers sitting together to discuss production with the hope of a good harvest and good prices. They are "old farmers" who have been involved in farming for decades or young, dynamic people who choose agriculture as their starting point. Thai Binh farmers are increasingly asserting themselves on the journey of modern agricultural production.

Investing in 3 transplanters, 1 harvester, 1 tiller, and a seedling sowing machine to plant 30 hectares of rice fields and provide services to people with an area of about 100 hectares/crop, if the "wind and rain are favorable", Mr. Vu Ngoc Ha, Kien Xuong town (Kien Xuong) earns from 600 - 800 million VND/year from the job of "selling his face to the land, selling his back to the sky". Not only bringing in high income, farmers who "dare to think and dare to do" like Mr. Ha have contributed to liberating labor, improving production efficiency, forming "footprintless" fields, bringing about a modern transformation for agriculture.

Thai Binh farmers who "dare to think, dare to do" are contributing to changing the face of agriculture, forming "footprint-free" fields.

Mr. Ha shared: 2024 is a difficult year for farmers when storm No. 3 and pests on winter-spring rice caused damage, affecting productivity and output. New year, new crop, we farmers wish for nothing more than "calm seas and calm skies" to be able to produce with peace of mind.

In recent years, more and more farmers dare to think big, dare to do large-scale and change their agricultural production mindset to agricultural economic mindset. In particular, the strong application of science, technology, and industrial machinery to production is an important step forward in innovating production methods. When farmers change their production and product consumption mindset, exploiting all dimensions and layers of land value to the maximum, it contributes to doubling and tripling the value and efficiency of farming.

These clear changes have contributed to gradually creating a new generation of farmers who are knowledgeable, dynamic and creative. The shape of agricultural industrialization, rural modernization and farmer intellectualization is gradually taking shape; affirming the correctness of the Party's policies on agriculture, farmers and rural areas.

A pioneer in safe and clean agricultural production, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, Director of Quynh Phu Organic Agricultural Cooperative, constantly researches, learns, and puts valuable and economically efficient crops into production.

Every time we met him, we saw his dynamism, freshness, daring mindset and persistent efforts with the land and agriculture. Growing South American bananas for export to the Middle East, Turkey, Japan and Korea, Mr. Trung invested in an automatic irrigation system controlled by smartphones on a scale of 45 hectares. Storm No. 3 passed through and destroyed the banana area, causing damage of over 30 billion VND. With the thought of "falling where you stand up there", Mr. Trung continued to rotate capital to restore production.

He currently grows 27 hectares of bananas for export in Quynh Hong and Quynh Giao communes (Quynh Phu), and at the same time rents fields from farmers in Quynh Hung and Quynh Hong communes (Quynh Phu) to grow winter potatoes.

Up to now, Mr. Ta Van Thiet, Nam Tien commune (Tien Hai, Thai Binh) has 500 oyster rafts.

Mr. Trung shared: Doing agriculture, especially clean agriculture, has many potential risks. But if you fail and give up, you will never be able to pursue your goals. From the model of growing clean asparagus, growing bananas for export intercropped with clean melons, growing Japanese rice... I have implemented all of them with high economic efficiency. Through visits, learning, and sharing experiences, I believe that my way of doing things and the model I have implemented have been and are inspiring many farmers.

Land in general and agricultural land in particular are important resources, making great contributions to the development of localities, the agricultural sector and the country. When farmers have knowledge, the will to get rich and know how to appreciate the value of their “fertile land”, they will inevitably reap “sweet fruits”.

Last winter, I rented 160 hectares of rice fields from farmers in Quynh Hong and Quynh Hung communes to grow potatoes in cooperation with the company. All production stages are industrialized, the company provides seeds, guides on planting techniques, care, and pest control. The closed production process with new quality seeds and advanced planting techniques brings superior productivity compared to the old farming methods of the people, on average each sao of potatoes yields 1.4 - 1.6 tons of tubers. All harvested potatoes are sold to the company, tubers that meet the standards will be used to process fast food such as chips, instant noodles at a price of over 8,000 VND/kg; small tubers that do not meet the size and weight are used as animal feed at a price of over 4,000 VND/kg.

Brackish water oyster farming has just developed in Tien Hai district but has opened a new direction in developing effective and sustainable aquaculture, contributing to increasing the production value of the aquaculture industry in the context that by 2024, the aquaculture area will decrease by more than 300 hectares. From a few experimental farms then increased to 200 rafts, up to now, Mr. Ta Van Thiet, Nam Tien commune (Tien Hai) has 500 rafts, supplying seeds to neighboring provinces.

Mr. Thiet said: Oyster farming requires little care, living mainly on natural algae and plankton, so there is no cost for food. Farmers only need to use quality seeds, taken from reputable seed production facilities. In particular, oyster farming in estuaries has the advantage of the continuous flow of salt and fresh water, so the salinity of the water is kept stable, helping oysters to grow favorably. However, oyster farming in estuaries also faces many risks such as natural disasters, storms, floods, droughts, and water pollution from upstream...

Last year, thanks to proactively reinforcing and tying up the rafts, I and other households did not suffer much damage. Production and consumption were stable, farmers made a profit, so everyone had a decent Tet. Hopefully, in the new year, all farmers will have a good harvest and good prices.
