Towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations (September 23, 1975 - September 23, 2025), the German Embassy in Vietnam launched a unique art project to transform the wall outside the Embassy into an outdoor painting, reflecting diverse views and perspectives on the multidimensional relationship between the two countries.

This is an opportunity for talented young Vietnamese artists to contribute ideas and demonstrate their creativity, while promoting cultural exchange between the two countries.
Entries should reflect important aspects of the Vietnam-Germany friendship such as hopes and dreams for the future of bilateral relations; personal encounters or experiences of Germany; cultural exchanges and cultural differences; historical connections between the two countries; or personal cultural stories in the context of Vietnam-Germany bilateral cooperation.
Contestants are required to submit a brief introduction about themselves, along with a rough sketch of their work and a list of materials needed. Applications should be sent to [email protected] by March 10.
Once an official response from the Embassy is received, artists can begin developing their work.
The live painting session will take place on Friday, April 11, at the German Embassy, 27 Tran Phu, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi.
This is an opportunity for artists to complete their work on the spot, connect with colleagues and have the opportunity to interact with representatives from the Center for Support and Development of Contemporary Art (Vicas Art Studio), the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies (VICAS) and staff from the German Embassy in Vietnam.
After the event, all artworks will be displayed for 3 months on the wall outside the Embassy and introduced on the commemorative website, along with information on selling the works to those interested.

- Participants include visual media artists (graffiti, painting, plastic arts) and art students who are Vietnamese citizens. - You can register to participate as an individual or as a group. - The German Embassy in Vietnam will provide canvases according to the above dimensions, and pay for necessary materials such as paints, graffiti paints, brushes... - The Embassy does not support travel expenses for out-of-town artists. - Time to announce results: around the end of March 2025. |
