Co Chien 2 Bridge has a total length of 5 km, designed as a cable-stayed bridge, starting at An Qui commune (Thanh Phu, Ben Tre) and ending at Long Hoa commune (Chau Thanh, Tra Vinh). Of which, the main bridge is 2 km long, with a scale of 4 lanes, the rest is the approach road, expected to be built with the central budget, completed in 2030.

The project is part of the coastal road project connecting Ben Tre with Tien Giang and Tra Vinh. In addition to this bridge, there are two other component projects on the route, including Ba Lai 8 bridge through Ben Tre province, costing over VND2,200 billion, and Cua Dai bridge connecting Ben Tre - Tien Giang with a total investment of over VND4,700 billion.

More than 25 km long, the coastal road project connecting Tien Giang - Ben Tre - Tra Vinh with a total investment of more than 7,900 billion VND from loans and counterpart provincial budget is being submitted by Ben Tre province to central ministries and branches. The starting point of the project is at Ba Lai 8 bridge in Ba Tri district, the end point is at Co Chien 2 bridge in Thanh Phu district, Ben Tre.

This route is also part of the 740 km long Western coastal road from Ha Tien to Ho Chi Minh City approved by the Government 13 years ago. The project passes through 7 provinces in the Mekong Delta including: Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau and Kien Giang.

When the entire project is completed, it will help vehicles travel slowly from Soc Trang, Tra Vinh through Ben Tre, Tien Giang, Long An to Ho Chi Minh City, shortening the distance by dozens of kilometers, contributing to reducing congestion and accidents on National Highway 1 and National Highway 50.

Previously, Co Chien Bridge connecting Ben Tre and Tra Vinh opened to traffic in 2015, helping to reduce traffic pressure on National Highway 1 through Can Tho City and My Thuan Bridge, shortening the journey by nearly 80 km from Ho Chi Minh City to Tra Vinh and Soc Trang.
