200 tons of fresh flowers at the largest flower festival in the North

The second Me Linh Flower Festival (Hanoi) gathered more than 200 tons of local and imported flowers, and was considered the largest flower festival in the North.

The second Me Linh Flower Festival took place from December 26 to 29 with the theme "Me Linh is brilliant with flowers", held at the square of Me Linh district's administrative center.

The welcome gate is a highlight with many layers of colorful flowers. This is not only the first check-in point but also a project that carries the local hospitality message to visitors.

More than 200 tons of fresh flowers will be displayed in 10 main categories of the festival. Of which, 8 miniature landscapes are decorated with fresh flowers from Me Linh district and imported flowers, on a scale of nearly 10,000m2.

According to the district People's Committee, the flowers served at this year's festival are diverse, most of which are meticulously cared for by flower farmers in Me Linh.

The area to the right of the flower festival entrance is a miniature landscape simulating the One Pillar Pagoda, the Taj Mahal, and the Eiffel Tower.

Artistic flower products from suburban districts such as Gia Lam and Phuc Tho also appear here.

On both sides of the entrance are two heart-shaped miniature landscapes over 20 square meters wide, decorated with 5,000 imported roses.

Flower streams, flower waterfalls, flower flocks, and flower gates appear everywhere in the festival grounds.

In recent years, in addition to roses and chrysanthemums, Me Linh district has developed lilies, chrysanthemums, and orchids to meet market demand.

The district has about 4,000 households growing flowers on about 750 hectares, of which the annual flower growing area is 650 hectares, the rest is peach growing land. The soil here is considered suitable for growing roses, giving fresh colors and fragrance.

Many tourists came to the flower festival to check in before the opening day.

Me Linh District Party Secretary Nguyen Thanh Liem said the Festival is an opportunity to introduce Me Linh land with its traditional flower growing profession and many historical and cultural values ​​to tourists.

The festival also dedicates space to promoting local agricultural products, including radishes from Trang Viet commune.

Me Linh district currently has 10 types of fresh flowers and 5 types of immortal flowers recognized as OCOP products (local products). Income from growing flowers in the area is about 450-500 million VND per hectare.

Workers are completing two New Year's greeting signs at the flower festival, made from millions of chrysanthemums, on the afternoon of December 25. The second Me Linh Flower Festival is open free of charge to residents and visitors.
