Nghi Xuan District (Ha Tinh) has just announced an outbreak of lumpy skin disease in Xuan Thanh Commune, and has zoned off areas at high risk of outbreaks in some neighboring areas.
Staff of the Center for Application of Science and Technology & Protection of Plants and Livestock of Nghi Xuan district checked the disease situation on the infected cow of Phan Thi Hoa household.
On February 22, the Center for Application of Science and Technology and Protection of Plants and Livestock of Nghi Xuan district received a report from the People's Committee of Xuan Thanh commune that Mrs. Phan Thi Hoa's family, Thanh Yen village, had a cow weighing about 245kg, with a high fever of 410C , decreased appetite, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, swollen lymph nodes in the shoulder, posterior dermal lymph nodes, swollen leg joints, edema, and nodules all over the body.
After receiving the information, the center sent staff to collect samples and send them to the Veterinary Department of Region III for testing and the results were positive for lumpy skin disease.
On February 23, Nghi Xuan District People's Committee issued Decision No. 893/QD-UBND on declaring an epidemic of lumpy skin disease in Xuan Thanh commune; the epidemic-threatened areas include the communes of Xuan My, Xuan Yen, and Co Dam.
Nghi Xuan district requests relevant localities, organizations and individuals to strictly implement disease prevention and control measures according to the provisions of the Veterinary Law and guidance documents and directions of functional agencies, quickly extinguish the epidemic, and prevent it from spreading widely.
