According to information from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine (DAH), up to now, all outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in buffalo and cattle herds in Quang Tri province have passed 21 days.

Previously, from June 29 to September 7, FMD outbreaks in cattle and buffaloes occurred in 186 households in 26 villages and hamlets in 10 communes and towns of 4 districts: Huong Hoa (communes of Huong Phung, Thuan, Huc, Tan Long and Lao Bao town), Dakrong (commune of Ba Long), Vinh Linh (commune of Vinh O and commune of Hien Thanh) and Cam Lo (commune of Thanh An and commune of Cam Tuyen). The total number of cattle and buffaloes infected with the disease was 572, including 210 buffaloes and 362 cows; 28 died and were buried.
After a period of drastic implementation of disease control measures, up to now, in 10 communes and towns, FMD in buffaloes and cows has been controlled and stabilized.
Huong Hoa and Vinh Linh districts have declared the end of FMD in their areas. All activities of raising, transporting, slaughtering, buying and selling buffaloes, cows and products from buffaloes and cows in the affected communes have returned to normal according to regulations. In Dakrong and Cam Lo districts, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has assessed the conditions for the People's Committees of the districts to declare the end of FMD in accordance with regulations.
