On his personal podcast, Luong Xuan Truong revealed that he had hidden his heart disease from HAGL to stay at the Academy and pursue his football career. Accordingly, this midfielder is prone to palpitations and his heart rate doubles if he accidentally makes a move that causes his body to suddenly stop.

Every time he experiences this arrhythmia, Luong Xuan Truong has to lie on his back and try to regulate his breathing. After that, his heart rate will gradually decrease from 180 beats/minute and then return to normal, but his body is very tired.

“For an athlete, cardiovascular problems are very sensitive and will often result in a suspension of sports activities. I was very scared because if they knew, the teachers would not let me play football anymore and remove me from the academy. So, I decided to hide my illness" - Luong Xuan Truong explained his decision to hide his illness in the past.

To cope with the unstable situation during training sessions at HAGL, Luong Xuan Truong often pretended to go to the toilet, then went home to lie down and tried to reduce his heart rate. Sometimes his heart rate did not decrease, but Xuan Truong still tried to complete the training session.

"Now that I think about it, I see it was really dangerous" - Luong Xuan Truong shared. This midfielder revealed that he only secretly told this story to coach Guillaume Graechen and was arranged to go to Hanoi for a check-up, but there was no way to let his body fall into a state of cardiac arrhythmia, so he returned to the HAGL academy to live normally.

Luong Xuan Truong's problem was only solved when he went to Korea to play for Incheon United in 2015. At that time, Xuan Truong's condition became more serious and he had to confess his illness to the medical team. After that, Incheon United took Xuan Truong to the emergency room and the doctors performed endoscopic surgery. Since then, Xuan Truong has not had any more arrhythmias.

This is the first time Xuan Truong has spoken out about his heart disease. In the past, suspicions that Xuan Truong had a heart disease arose in 2013 when the midfielder and the U19 Vietnam team "caused a stir". However, HAGL denied this information.
