Fine of 37.5 million VND for illegal storage of forest products

According to Mr. Ho Cong Diem, the People's Committee of Phuoc Son district has decided to fine Mr. Vo Van Nho (53 years old), in Kham Duc town, Phuoc Son district, the owner of the illegal timber, VND 37.5 million for the act of "Illegal storage of forest products".

In addition to the fine, the People's Committee of Phuoc Son district confiscated evidence of administrative violations, including 3,664 cubic meters of sawn timber (boxes) of the following types: giổi, huynh, chồng, cái, chò châu, xoan mộc, and tram trắng; 2,055 cubic meters of round timber including 14 segments of sơn huyet, sen mật, and hoàng linh.

Previously, on November 27, 2023, after receiving feedback from the people, the Quang Nam Provincial Forest Protection Department coordinated with the Phuoc Son District Forest Protection Department and the Kham Duc Town Police to investigate and discovered that on the land plot opposite the house and owned by Mr. Vo Van Ba, Head of the Phuoc Son District Internal Affairs Department, 14 logs of round wood, with a volume of 2.052 m3 and 77 boxes and sawn wood bars with a volume of 2.881 m3 were illegally stored. It is worth mentioning that the person who received the above wood was Mr. Vo Van Nho, Mr. Ba's brother.

The forest rangers and police asked Mr. Nho to provide relevant documents. He said he bought it in 2014 and 2015, so long ago that he no longer had any documents.

Mr. Le Quang Trung, Chairman of Phuoc Son District People's Committee, said that the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee has asked Mr. Ba to explain and submit a review regarding the storage of wood of unknown origin on his land.
