[CLIP]: Queuing… 2 hours to buy yellow tofu in Ho Chi Minh City: Only sold once a year
Yellow bean curd with chive brine has long been a famous dish among the Teochew Chinese community. This year, at Nghia An Assembly Hall, this dish is sold from January 16 to 27 (ie February 13 to 24, 2025).
Ms. Thy (22 years old) traveled from District 4 to buy this "hot trend" dish on social networks. Although she waited for 30 minutes, Ms. Thy said there was still a long line ahead. "With this situation, it will probably take more than an hour to get your turn. However, last year I bought it, but when it was my turn, it was sold out, so this year I decided to eat it," she laughed and shared.
Many people said they were willing to wait more than an hour to enjoy the food, and diners filled a corner of the restaurant.
A yellow tofu stall said that every year, they only sell on this occasion. In the past 2 years, with the spread of social networks, the number of customers has increased. "Some people wait nearly 2 hours to buy. We sell until 9 pm, but when there are many customers, the goods sell out early, the goods are constantly imported. The tofu here is popular with customers because the dipping sauce is cooked according to a special recipe, served with tofu that is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and raw vegetables," Ms. Chi from the stall shared while busy taking orders from customers.
Ms. Kim Dieu (23 years old) said that her group waited more than 1 hour to be able to enjoy this dish for the first time.
Chive salt dipping sauce is one of the secrets of this unique dish.
Nghia An Assembly Hall at this time also sells many other Chinese dishes.
