Hoang Duc opened the score for the Vietnam team.
The Vietnamese team dominated India in the first half. Coach Kim Sang-sik's players were superior in terms of ball possession, number of shots and scored the opening goal in the 38th minute.
From Que Ngoc Hai's pass, Bui Vi Hao shot powerfully, pinning the ball to the far corner of the Indian goal. Goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu dove to block, but the ball still slowly rolled into the net. Right before the ball crossed the goal line, midfielder Hoang Duc rushed in and shot into the empty net, scoring a goal for the Vietnamese team.
The Vietnamese team could have even led 2-0 after the first half, if defender Que Ngoc Hai had successfully converted the penalty kick. Overall, the game was still in Vietnam's favor, but the team needed to make better use of the opportunities created.
