On the morning of December 18 in Hanoi, the conference to review 2024 and deploy key tasks for 2025 of the culture, sports and tourism sector took place with the theme "Building an advanced culture with strong national identity - The driving force for national development in the new era, the era of the Vietnamese people's rise". Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and chaired the conference.

Speaking at the Conference, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said that the entire cultural sector will be ready with resources, with great efforts, determination and drastic actions to strive to fulfill the function: "Culture is the foundation - Sports is strength - Sustainable tourism development".
"2024 is an important year in successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolutions of the National Assembly and the Government, with many intertwined advantages and challenges," Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized.
In that context, the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector has identified the theme of the year "Proactive - Accelerating - Reaching the finish line", always thoroughly grasping and strictly implementing Resolution No. 01/NQ-CP of the Government; 8 key directions and tasks that the Prime Minister has concluded and directed at the Conference summarizing the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector in 2023; along with a serious and open-minded spirit, not complacent about the achieved results, not subjective, negligent in the face of difficulties and challenges; the whole sector has completed its tasks well, some aspects of the work have achieved positive results, measurable work products, with many bright spots and outstanding highlights as mentioned in the report.
"The phrase 'culture' has appeared regularly in legal documents, as well as in the leadership and direction of key leaders. Since then, the awareness of all levels, sectors and society has become increasingly deeper about the role of culture, the viewpoint that "culture must be placed on par with economics, politics and society" has been increasingly spread. The Ministry and the entire sector have completed a large amount of work with high efficiency" - Minister Nguyen Van Hung affirmed.
According to Minister Nguyen Van Hung, with the determination to create a breakthrough in the work of building and perfecting institutions, concretizing the Party and State's guidelines, policies and laws on the development of culture, sports and tourism, in 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism chaired the report to competent authorities to pass 1 Law, 1 Program; give opinions on 1 Law; issue 5 Decrees; approve 2 Planning, 1 Industry Development Strategy. The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued 16 Circulars under his authority.
An important highlight is that the Politburo issued Conclusion No. 70-KL/TW dated January 31, 2024 on sports development in the new period; the National Target Program on cultural development for the period 2025-2035, creating important resources for cultural development according to the viewpoint: Investing in culture is investing in sustainable development in a broad sense.

The Minister added that, from the perspective of public investment, as the lyrics of the “Construction Song” say, investment in cultural development and construction is “for today, for tomorrow, for all time”. In addition, the 2024 Cultural Heritage Law Project, approved by the National Assembly on November 23, 2024, has many new points, creating maximum convenience for the work of preserving and promoting heritage values, with the goal of “turning heritage into assets”, closely linked with socio-economic development.
In particular, the work of building a cultural environment associated with building cultural people has gone in the right direction, taking the grassroots as the center, the people as the subject to preserve and promote cultural values that have been systematically implemented, from being a point to replicating.
In the field of Cinema and Performing Arts, there have been many outstanding cultural industrial products, such as the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024, the 1st International Jazz Festival - Nha Trang 2024, the "sold-out" shows of the programs "Anh trai vu ngan cong gai" and "Anh trai say hi" are vivid evidence in implementing the Prime Minister's Directive on promoting the development of cultural industries.
In the field of Sports, Vietnamese Sports is based on two pillars, Sports for everyone with the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" in the spirit of "Strong people - Prosperous country". In 2024, the number of people practicing sports regularly nationwide is estimated to reach 37.5% (an increase of 0.8% compared to 2023); along with 27 competitions and national mass sports tournaments continuing to be held in 2024, attracting over 20,000 athletes to participate; thereby discovering and creating resources for the development of high-performance sports.

In the tourism sector, in 2024, the entire sector will focus on effectively implementing Resolution No. 82/NQ-CP and Directive No. 08/CT-Tg of the Prime Minister, according to which tourism has recovered positively after the pandemic and is assessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh as a bright spot in the country's socio-economic picture.
Regarding the direction and tasks in 2025, Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that this is a year of special importance in implementing and completing socio-economic development goals according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 5-year socio-economic development plan for the period 2021-2025. Closely following the leadership and direction of the Central Government, the Government and the Prime Minister; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will base on the actual situation to proactively, flexibly, creatively, resolutely, in the right direction, with focus, key points and effectively carry out assigned tasks.
