In recent days, on Thang Long Street, wastewater has overflowed into Cam Le River at 3 locations: CSO HC3A/1 discharge gate (behind the Exhibition Center), CSO HC3/2 discharge gate (at the foot of Nguyen Tri Phuong Bridge) and Hoa Cuong Wastewater Treatment Plant (under the bridge across Thang Long Street).
To overcome this situation , the Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company has mineralized the area before and inside the discharge gate, sprayed biological products to reduce odors, pre-treated wastewater before discharging into the river, and collected dead duckweed in front of the discharge gate.
Waste water is gray.
The unit also built a temporary dam with sandbags to increase the water storage capacity in the sewer, regulated between wastewater pumping stations to collect the maximum amount of water during peak hours, and operated all 3 pumps at HC3 Pumping Station.
As of June 13, the above measures have limited water overflow during peak hours, except for some cases of thunderstorms and unseasonal rain in the evening that increase wastewater flow.
The unit has also coordinated with authorities to clarify the cause of wastewater overflowing into Cam Le River.
Workers put up sandbags to increase water storage capacity in sewers.
Receiving additional wastewater flow causes overload and overflow.
Accordingly, from April 20, the wastewater pipeline construction project from Phan Thanh Tai Street to Thang Long Street will connect the wastewater collection pipeline from Street 2.9 to the current collection system on Thang Long Street to the HC3 pumping station, then pump it to the Hoa Xuan Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The connection is to overcome the situation of wastewater overflowing during peak hours at the discharge gate of Binh Minh 6 Street and the discharge gate at the foot of Tran Thi Ly Bridge (due to the damaged and degraded pipeline of Road 2.9).
However, receiving additional wastewater overloaded the HC3 pumping station, causing overflow at the CSO HC3A/1 outlet (behind the Exhibition Center) and the outlet at CSO HC3/2 (at the foot of Nguyen Tri Phuong bridge).
In addition, for the discharge location of Hoa Cuong Wastewater Treatment Plant, this plant has been operating since 2007 with level 1 anaerobic biological treatment technology, without disinfection stage. Due to the characteristics of anaerobic technology, the wastewater after treatment is gray, when discharged into Cam Le River it is yellow, creating a contrast.
In the long term, in the future, Hoa Cuong Wastewater Treatment Station will transfer all wastewater to Hoa Xuan Wastewater Treatment Station for treatment with advanced technology. Wastewater will be treated to meet standards before being discharged into the environment.
The Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company added that, in terms of long-term measures, the company proposed to increase the capacity of pumping stations such as HC3 near Nguyen Tri Phuong bridge, HC06 near Hoa Xuan bridge and the wastewater pipeline from HC06 pumping station to HC03 pumping station, improve wastewater collection capacity, promote the effectiveness of investment in the wastewater collection pipeline on Highway 2.9, and invest in a wastewater transport system from Hoa Cuong Wastewater Treatment Station to Hoa Xuan for treatment.
