(Dan Tri) - The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 caused a big surprise with the appearance of a series of modern "Made in Vietnam" weapons and equipment, on par with the great powers.
Impressive "Made in Vietnam" weapons
Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 (VNDefenceExpo 2024) is a key activity, creating a highlight of world significance and stature to strengthen and expand international cooperation, defense diplomacy, build trust between Vietnam and countries around the world; share defense foreign policies and guidelines; advocate building the army and developing the defense industry. The exhibition area has a total area of over 100,000m2 with an indoor display area of 15,000m2 (double that of the 2022 exhibition) and an outdoor area of over 20,000m2. To date, nearly 200 domestic and foreign units and enterprises from 27 countries in the ASEAN region, Asia, Europe, and America have registered to display booths at the exhibition. If the first exhibition in 2022 brought interesting surprises to international delegations as well as the public, at VNDefenceExpo 2024, "Made in Vietnam" weapons made a strong impression with many modern products, comparable to the region and the world. More than 10 years ago, few people could have imagined that the Vietnamese defense industry could achieve such great achievements. We have gone "from nothing to something" and now have made an unprecedented leap. If a few years ago, the dream of producing weapons to equip an infantry division with enough troops came true, now "Made in Vietnam" weapons have come a long way, with some products of world-class quality.
Reach high, fly far with air defense - air force
A notable breakthrough is that our country's defense industry has manufactured many types of modern UAVs, including attack UAVs, something that not many countries in the world have achieved. At this year's VNDefenceExpo 2024, Viettel High Technology Industry Corporation (VHT) displayed more than 100 high-tech products in the military and civilian fields. Besides, our country's defense industry, including Viettel, has manufactured many types of modern radars such as medium-range round-view radars, specialized low-altitude radars, and even passive radars specialized in capturing stealth aircraft. Not stopping there, Vietnam's defense industry also participates deeply in improving anti-aircraft missiles and artillery. New generation weapons and equipment have been increasingly deployed to units, contributing to "not letting the Fatherland be surprised by situations in the air", providing early and remote warnings, providing accurate parameters for firepower units ready to fire and intercept targets. 3D round-view radar manufactured by Vietnam National Defense Industry (Photo: Manh Quan).
A major breakthrough in army weapons
With the motto of manufacturing and purchasing weapons suitable for Vietnam's fighting style and military art, most of the key research products in the field of the army are infantry portable weapons suitable for combat conditions and the physical condition of the soldiers. Up to now, our country's defense industry has basically manufactured portable weapons for infantry divisions with full troops. This is a huge step forward, ensuring that units have a source of new, modern, abundant weapons, keeping up with the regional and world level. Comparable to the portable weapons of the army units of developed countries, except for anti-tank missiles, our soldiers are equipped with everything, from heavy sniper rifles, mortars, grenade launchers, anti-tank guns, submachine guns, light machine guns, 12.7mm anti-aircraft machine guns, etc. Obviously, we have the right to be proud when the infantry soldiers have new weapons in their hands, gradually replacing the old, outdated ones. In addition, projects to modernize tanks and armored vehicles; improve artillery and mortars mounted on wheeled and tracked vehicle chassis to increase mobility and increase the accuracy of each shot are also contributing to fundamental qualitative changes in the Vietnamese army. Most notably, the appearance of the XCB-01 infantry fighting vehicle designed and manufactured by the General Department of Defense Industry of Vietnam was officially launched for the first time. This is the first tracked armored vehicle researched and manufactured domestically by Vietnam. The vehicle has an external appearance similar to the Soviet BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle and is equipped with cable-controlled anti-tank missiles. Accompanying the navy and coast guard to the open sea
Vietnam's military shipbuilding industry has recently achieved many important achievements when launching typical products such as Molniya fast attack missile boat, TP-400 gunboat, TT-400 patrol boat, DN-2000 offshore patrol boat, etc., contributing to timely supplementing important and powerful combat vehicles to protect the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland. At this year's exhibition, the land-to-sea missile complex manufactured by Vietnam's defense industry attracted all eyes, marking an important development step.
