Vietcombank is the next bank to adjust the service fee for balance change notification via SMS.

Specifically, if customers use 20 SMS messages or less in a month, the fee remains at VND 10,000/phone number/month (excluding VAT). If they use more than 20 SMS messages in a month, the fee will be equal to the actual number of SMS messages generated multiplied by the unit price of VND 700/SMS (excluding VAT). In addition, the bank will not send SMS messages to notify balance changes for transactions with a value of less than VND 50,000 but will instead send notifications on the VCB Digibank application (APP).

Thus, up to now, most of the major banks in the market have applied the policy of notifying balance changes via SMS based on the actual number of SMS messages customers receive each month. In addition, banks also apply the policy of switching to notifying low-value transactions via banking applications instead of SMS messages as before.

In addition to the paid SMS balance notification service, most banks still maintain a free policy for SMS messages notifying OTP codes.

For customers who use a lot of SMS messages, if they do not need to continue maintaining the proactive SMS service, customers can cancel the service by texting VCB CD HUY to 6167 and switch to receiving balance change notifications via the free VCB Digibank application (APP).

In addition, to accompany customers, in the first quarter of 2024, Vietcombank will apply a mechanism to waive 1 month of proactive SMS service fees for customers who cancel the service.
