Speaking at the Dialogue, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang said that based on the achievements over nearly two decades, BRICS has the potential to play an increasingly greater role in promoting dialogue and coordinating international efforts to address global challenges. In the context of the world undergoing profound and complex transformation, the Deputy Minister proposed that BRICS continue to coordinate with developing countries to promote three focuses. First, strengthening multilateral cooperation, in which it is necessary to continue to strengthen the central role of the United Nations in coordinating global efforts to promote peace, security and sustainable development; building trust and resolving disputes by peaceful means on the basis of respect for the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law. Second, enhancing the role of developing countries in governance and implementation of global development agendas. BRICS needs to contribute more to accelerating the implementation of sustainable development goals, ensuring that developing countries have access to breakthrough technological achievements, deep economic integration and promoting an open, fair, inclusive and non-discriminatory multilateral trading system. Third, enhancing the resilience, adaptability and capacity of developing countries in addressing global challenges. BRICS needs to cooperate closely with partners, especially developing countries, in promoting global climate action, actively contributing to global efforts to ensure food security, energy security, as well as preventing and preparing for natural disasters and epidemics. Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang affirmed that Vietnam consistently implements a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations; being a friend, a reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community. The Deputy Minister emphasized that Vietnam is promoting high-quality development, prioritizing green growth and sustainable development, innovation, and enhancing self-reliance with people at the center of the development strategy. Vietnam is ready to actively contribute to the activities of global, inter-regional and regional organizations and cooperation mechanisms for peace, cooperation and development. Vietnam will host the Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit in 2025 and wishes to coordinate with countries to promote global efforts for green growth and sustainable development.
