Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh talks with Ms. Nada Ibrahim Ali Ahmed

Delighted to welcome Ms. Nada Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh shared that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment highly appreciated the UAE's right to host the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28) in 2023. This is an outstanding international event with high consensus among member states, the culmination of the efforts of the leaders and people of the Arab Emirates over the years, and at the same time a symbol of the beginning of the UAE's development journey in the coming years.

The Deputy Minister said that as an active member of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Vietnam plans to attend COP28 with representatives from ministries, sectors, and a number of large enterprises to ensure attendance at important sessions of COP28. We consider COP28 an important conference to implement the country's commitments at previous COPs. Therefore, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment respectfully requests the UAE to support and facilitate logistics and technical conditions for the Vietnamese delegation to attend COP28.

In addition, the Deputy Minister informed that the Vietnamese Government highly appreciated the economic relations between Vietnam and the UAE which have developed rapidly in recent years. The two sides are actively negotiating the Vietnam-UAE Trade Agreement. This is the premise for the two countries to continue expanding their cooperation, including in the fields of natural resources and environment. On this occasion, the Deputy Minister proposed that through the Deputy Ambassador, the UAE's agency in charge of natural resources and environment will be connected with the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, helping Vietnam gain more experience and support to transition to a green economy, protect the environment and respond to climate change.
