Phu Quoc is the only city in Vietnam with a hotel mentioned by an American newspaper in the top 100 best new accommodations in 2023.
Travel + Leisure announced the 100 best new hotels in the world in early April. The top 100 is divided into seven categories: beach hotels, city hotels, nature-inspired resorts, best value, luxury new hotels, wellness resorts, and best resorts (in the US).

Regent Phu Quoc, located on Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Province, was honored in the category of "Best New Luxury Hotel". The resort, which opened in 2022, impressed the judges with its many palm trees and luxurious rooms. 126 villas have private pools. The children's play area has a mini cinema, a gym under the trees and a swimming pool by the sea. Room prices start at over 10 million VND.
Announcing the top 100 is an annual activity, voted by editors and travel experts of American magazines with the aim of helping tourists have more suggestions for their upcoming trips.
The judges spent 2022 visiting 37 countries on six continents (except Antarctica), observing newly opened hotels, evaluating their operations, facilities and services.
Hotels on the list must meet criteria such as "not just a place to sleep but a memorable place to return to many times", "a place where guests will tell and recommend to friends", and "a place where guests feel like they are at home or come to when they want to escape the world".
