Russian President Vladimir Putin meets with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in Moscow, February 7. Mr. Mishustin cited data from the statistics agency Rosstat, saying that the Russian economy grew by 4.1% in 2024, the same as in 2023. President Putin said: "It should be noted that our economy has successfully coped with the unprecedented pressure of sanctions, unlike many countries that imposed sanctions on us. Some of them are close to stagnation... The task this year is to achieve more balanced growth and reduce inflation." (Source: Kremlin)

Here, Mr. Trump declared: "The United States will take over the Gaza Strip and we will work with it. We will own it" and turn it into the "Riviera of the Middle East". He also proposed the idea of relocating Palestinians to a new location. These proposals immediately caused "turmoil" around the world. On February 5, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that President Trump only wanted the Palestinians to leave temporarily while Gaza was rebuilt, clarifying that this proposal was "not hostile". On the same day, the White House said that President Trump "did not commit" to sending US troops to Gaza as part of his plan to rebuild the Palestinian territory, but did not rule out this possibility. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave an interview to British journalist Piers Morgans, which aired on February 4. Mr. Zelensky admitted that Ukraine's accession to NATO would not happen in the near future and that the process could take "years or even decades". Therefore, Kiev has asked Western countries to provide Ukraine with military aid: "Give us nuclear weapons. Do this: Give us back our nuclear weapons, give us missile systems". The Ukrainian president said he would agree to direct negotiations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to end the nearly three-year conflict, changing his previous attitude towards negotiations.
